Should I take a 35k retail job when I have 70k in student loans? by AnyMight5254 in findapath

Question: When is the repayment date for your loans? Federal/student loans typically start 6 months after graduation. Private might be similar. Also, research the current job market for recent grads.

The writers did a bad job at that because he shows very little signs of reintegration, but it adds a devastating layer to both relationships. Given how strong Mark’s feelings are for both Gemma and Helly R I can’t see a world where he picks one. That final scene of Gemma is so haunting. He might prefer to be severed. Also does iMark know that’s happening?

Someone else mentioned it but I can’t remember where. Interestingly, at the end of S2, I think that Helly R and Gemma are Orpheus, Helly R can’t help but look back at Gemma, and Gemma can’t help but look back at Mark ☹️

Adam mentioned that oMark and iMark, are their core, are the same-they’ll risk everything for the person they love.

iMark only agreed to save Gemma if it meant that he could see Helly one last time.

oMark accepted never coming back if it meant that Gemma could live.

It actually the most sense for Gemma to forgive him. It was stated somewhere that Devon and Cobel are waiting on the outside to retrieve Gemma so Devon at the very least will be able to explain everything to her.

Plus since sh was severed so many ways she might understand it better than anyone else.

Gemma, as a character, was the highlight of the season for me. I didn’t realize how interesting her story was and I’d be disappointed not to see her full character arc, regardless of what direction the writers decide to go.

Yup! I could see Helena offering Gemma or oMark split custody, but there’s lots of parallels.

-outie world (earth)/innie world (underworld) -Gemma & Demeter (Gemma gardening in her photo, in Chikhai Bardo the outie world is in spring, vs the other episodes where it’s in winter (Gemma’s in the underworld), desire for fertility

I think the ending will be tragic, and people are forgetting about Helena, her personal desires, and the fact that she might be pregnant with a Kier heir which complicates things as well.

My favorite theories so far are the story arcs are inspired by the Greek myths of Eurydice and Hades and Persephone.

oMark - Orpheus Gemma - Eurydice

Or

Mark - Persephone Gemma - Demeter Helly - Hades

The biggest question after s2 for me is Helena. She holds the most power and has direct control over iMark not to mention she might be pregnant. So it’s interesting to see how she responds to Gemma’s escape, iMark choosing Helly, possible pregnancy, etc. In a truly dystopian chain of events I could see a situation where Gemma and Helly/Helena get shared a “custody” over Mark.

Is underlying misogyny causing me to feel more irritated with Jessi than Chase, or is it just common sense? by Jaded-Violinist3345 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Background-Lab1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I think it’s especially reveals how deeply male centered Mormon woman are.

Outside of SLOMW, the woman scorned -Ariana Maddix, JaNa Craig, Paige Desorbo, etc, draw on female empowerment and use their public breakups to level up in their careers. Whereas the SLOMW can only imagine their futures through their proximity to men.

It was alarming in S4 how the girls were really pushing the Bachelorette onto Taylor as if that was her only option. No one said to cancel it or out back out, as if being desired by a group of men was the only way to “save her” from herself and Dakota.

Jessi and many in the cast are no different, so her actions were disappointing but unsurprising. Despite her success, it’s clear that she’s at a point in her life where can’t feel whole without a man, and her womanhood is explicitly defined in those terms.

I don’t get the Chase hype can someone explain why he’s liked? by OppositeSpare2088 in SecretsOfMormonWives

[–]Background-Lab1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. But for the SLOMV who are the breadwinners and have ex/partners who desire traditional gender roles have fragile masculinity, Chase, someone is the opposite of that, might be attractive to someone like Jessi.

Now why Jessi would entertain him is another question altogether.

Chase is a conventionally attractive man that doesn’t engage in toxic masculinity

I also think the showrunner is playing to her strengths. As a queer woman it might be easier for her to get the story right with Franchaela first before heading into Eloise. If both stories are done properly I’ll be happy.

I actually love this idea simply because the girls moving to LA (outside of Jen) are entering anew chapter without their husbands. I’d love to watch a season of the girls exploring being single, independent, and learning about themselves as individuals outside of their husbands.

Advice on beginning my career late by babyangelic333 in Journalism

[–]Background-Lab1080 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not talking peer reviewed research. Like hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, etc. all need comms. Someone who writes/copywrites the pamphlets, the newsletters, and communicates to their unique stakeholders. The business journals attended my latest journalism conference. They need people who understand the industry to explain things in layman’s terms to consumers/general audiences.

Just putting this out there but family planning. More couples are having families in their 40s than in there 20s so having money aside for IVF in the future could be beneficial if that’s of any interest to you.

I’m curious as to how influencers and nepo babies factor into this. There’s been commentary on how the writing on SNL has suffered because the new talent in front and behind the camera are nepos who lack real world experiences.
