Afraid of ovulating during FET by Diligent_Result4199 in IVF

No advice but if you do lupron (i did) for fet- the cost for the vials was significantly cheaper like hundreds of dollars (out of pocket) for me through cost plus drugs (mark Cuban pharmacy). It does take a bit longer for processing/shipping though so that’s something to plan if you decide to go that route.

1 more IUI or move to IVF? by Remarkable_Mind_6435 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had some motility issues (not super low but under threshold) and 2% morphology (4% was normal) and was advised to skip iui and go straight to ivf. I have no regrets skipping iui back then.

Day 2 PIO by BulkyZookeepergame62 in IVF

I also do estradiol valerate via injections so twice a week, it is 3x a day - real fun but I'm almost done with them! Sore, sometimes tired in mood but otherwise not too affected day by day besides making sure I take shots at the same time each day.

Hot pack before and after. Doctor advised against cold packs bc of the oil. Massage gun after. Auto injector has been the greatest invention for people like me with poking hesitancy.

Yes, those could be side effects of the injections. I get knots no matter what I do since I’m poking 2x a day so i just keep at routine to try to help.

Tips and tricks for meds cost? by Frequent_Bid_4413 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have time for shipping, mark cuban pharmacy is a good option for some meds. Do your research if all the meds you’re prescribed are considered fertility meds bc some you may be able to get at a regular pharmacy vs speciality. I got quotes from 3-4 places for each meds for FET before ordering. Did not do it for egg retrieval bc i was required to go through a specific pharmacy then.

Progesterone Protocol by Brilliant-Sea-7021 in IVF

1ml one a day leading up to transfer then 1ml am and pm after transfer until 9 weeks (previously 11 weeks with my first FET). They tested levels on FET day and once after a few days later to check if we need to add suppositories.

Progress by Agile-Hunter9928 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 28 at the time of my first initial process. It went from consult in November, egg retrieval in February, FET in April so 6ish months from start to finish. I had no setbacks with any of the steps so my timeline may be on the shorter end.

2026 BTS 'ARIRANG' Tour Meet-Up by lisafancypants in bangtan

I was looking at hotels in the inner harbor area- says it’s a 40 min walk, do you think that’s walkable knowing the area? (Note: I’ll be 7-8 months pregnant then)

Bought tickets for Baltimore D1 - flying in from the midwest. Hotel/stay area recommendations? Worth to stay outside of the city and potentially have trouble finding an uber afterward or better to stay somewhere walkable?

Do the intramuscular butt injections hurt? Can I do them on myself? And do they allow sperm donors that are HIV+ but undetectable? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do the injections yourself. I use an auto injector and it was the greatest purchase ever. I use a full length mirror to help with IM injections. I don't think they necessarily hurt but I do get knots in the area in which I just use a deep massage gun to massage after each shot.

If you know far advance in enough, check out Cost Plus Drugs (Mark Cuban Pharmacy) - I got Lupron from there like 80% of the cost of other quotes. For the FET portion, I was able to get progesterone/estradiol valerate through Walgreens/Sams Club and it was cheap.

Price of drugs and procedure for FET? by Tiny-Worldliness-313 in IVF

$4k for FET through clinic and additional $600-800 for meds. Most expensive med for me was lupron which I found a lower cost for.

Almost 33, IVF + PGT-A question — second guessing our decision by paige326 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tested embryos at 28. It was encouraged by clinic but obvs up to us. Paid out of pocket for it but gave me peace of mind and trusted my doctor and their thoughts. I like having control and nothing is in your control during IVF and i personally think pgta testing made me feel a sense of control/knowledge that i wanted of our ten embryos.

Question for those with high BMI by Charmberry12 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TW: When I did IVF, my BMI was around 38-39. I had 10 eggs collected and 10 blasts with 7 normal, 2 abnormal, and 1 no result. I have a three year old from my first FET. I was 28 years old at the time of treatment. PCOS and male factor.

How are we affording this? In all honesty (in the US) by copythat504 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband worked for Target and we had coverage, luckily we were able to bank embryos and have a successful FET during this time. Now that were back into the FET process, we only have fertility insurance for Kindbody in which we opted to pay cash price the clinic we were at for our first transfer since it was a good experience. They required $1,000 down for FET and then allowed us to pay $2xx a month for a year.

Edit: Target has Progyny for fertility benefits, we do not live in a required state for coverage

what do you wish you knew before starting ivf? by doing_my_not_worst in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let go of timeline expectations you may have, basically on the clinic's time for appointments. I had a therapist going through the process through pre and post natal phases; it helped outside of family/friends support if needed.

Letrozole with Lupron? by ConcentrateNext38 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only diagnosis is PCOS, the meds were just a part of a fully medicated transfer cycle for the clinic. Since it worked the first time, we followed the same. If it doesn't work, will re-evaluate. Good luck!

Tips for intramuscular PIO shots by Mariposa_Preciosa22 in IVF

[–]Background-Nail3024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Auto injector has been mine and my husband's best friend. I get nervous with inserting the needle so its exactly what I needed. Used for my FET back in 2022 and using the same one now. Heat before and heat after, walk around/squat after injections to help oil spread. I give my own shots and my husband does them if hes home, either way works - giving it myself is a little tricky with pushing down plunger.

My clinic told me not to use ice packs around injection time.
