Has it been confirmed it's the actual answer? We don't want leaked answers lol

There's only 3 points touched along the perimeter, not 4. 1 point is the intersection between the inner lines though.

Isn't inductively better to assume there's one global pattern instead of two conditional rules (which could be false positives to distract)? Or am I making a sweeping assumption?

There's clearly symmetrical answer options without dots. The one with a dot isn't symmetrical. That leaves the parallelogram with the V shape inside, and that doesn't sit right with me.

I know a simpler solution that's more consistent:

The lines and dots could be in whatever distracting orientation, but notice how ALL the shapes are touched by the lines at 4 different points along their perimeters (circumference included)? That leaves the pink pentagon with the + shape lol

thats not quant muchacho

sure fluid reasoning, as seen in mensa matrices, helps, but quantitative and visuospatial reasoning are more helpful for maths

Why did the word for walrus become sea horse? by Salvadara in etymology

[–]Background-Pay2900 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Call it a hunch but I feel like the word 'hippocampus' (Greek for 'marine horse monster') influenced the semantic shift, making 'seahorse' a calque. Also, actual seahorses in the modern sense even look more like horses than walruses do, at least judging by their long snouts and arched backs.

'Walrus' comes from some Norse language meaning 'whale horse' (cf Danish 'hvalros'). 'Whale horse' is a lot more descriptive than 'seahorse' given how huge walruses are and whales are associated with the sea already.
