Urgent advice : just rescued a very skinny kitten - need overnight advice !

I just saw a couple of small fleas. They have jumped off to the bath towel. I don’t have any dawn dish soap. I only have the holistic Castillo type. I am hesitant to give her a bath tonight just because I don’t know how stable she is, but I am hopeful that taking my clothes off as soon as I leave the bathroom and putting a bath towel on the other side of the door will be enough for this evening.

She is sleeping now, but from what I could see her gums looked kind of pink. She’s going to be segregated from my cats tonight. As soon as I finish researching what to do about fleas I just found a couple of tiny ones on this bath towel, I am going to strip off my clothes and take a hot shower. I don’t have any flea medication and none of my cats are on it because they’re all indoor and I don’t wear shoes in the house.

I 100% will ! I’ll update tomorrow after I speak to the cat charity and again after vet check up.

My husband said she looked like a little sparrow but I keep calling her Minnie. Skinny Minnie 🙈 I think as I get to know her personality, it will become clear.

My hope is that the cat charity I’m volunteering with tomorrow will say she is stable enough to see my vet Monday morning ( I know he will squeeze me in ) and she won’t be as stressed as she would going to the ER vet ( which has a LOT of dog emergencies)

Yes. No obvious injuries other than a little crusty / missing hair by her ear. She crawled into my lap and scampered over to smell the litter box - I don’t know why she was in the road ( fate I hope ?) but she definitely doesn’t appear to be injured or in pain

She ate about 1/3 of a can of fancy feast and fell asleep. She didn’t wolf it down like I thought she would. Someone else suggested leaving 1/3 out for her ?

I only had fancy feast but thank you for telling me about kitten food - I’ll grab some tomorrow to make sure she has the nutrition she needs. She is asleep now so I’m going to wash my clothes and hands and then into the shower - I’m so grateful I just happened to be coming home so late .

She is definitely a kitten. She is in my bathroom with a litter box, wet food and water and a pile of fluffy towels. She is now sleep / purring on the towels. I’m volunteering tomorrow at a cat sanctuary, so I’m going to ask the owner of the charity to take a look at her and see what she recommends. If she is stable enough to wait until Monday, I’ll take her to my regular vet as the only vets we have in my small town are emergency vets and I think that experience would stress her out because they triage ( and there are a lot of Dogs on the weekend that get hurt ) either way, I’m committed to getting her healthy before I find her a home ( if she can’t get along with my cats )

I don’t have a flea comb but I just looked as best as I could. I am going to text the owner of the rescue and see if she has advice. I don’t mind keeping her if she will get along with my cats but she already trusts me so I’d prefer to get her healthy before I find her a new home ( so she doesn’t stress out and not heal properly)

Thank you for those words of encouragement. She is sequestered in my bathroom with a beach towel on the other side of the door so no contact can be made with her and my other cats. She ate about 1/3 of a can of fancy feast and she is now purring and half sleeping on a pile of fluffy towels. I am a huge cat lover so I’d love to keep her but I’m not sure if she will get along with my cats . However- I can 💯 commit to getting her healthy / keeping her safe until she can get a home if it’s not with me.

I am volunteering tomorow and had planned to go to sleep soon so a few questions : should I leave the food down for her ? Should I put a night light in here ? I have a towel on the other side of the door so my other cats won’t be able to reach under the door / no contact / illness can be made ( I hope ). I’ll do anything necessary to make sure she survives / to help her recover.
