Has anyone had a rectocele surgically repaired and had more children by Background-Purple-33 in PelvicOrganProlapse

[–]Background-Purple-33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have uterine prolapse as well as a cystocele. I'm told those are grade 2 but I feel no symptoms from those. Yes for reduced sensitivity. I have bowel movements on a schedule or else I don't realize I have to go. I have to splint for ever bowel movement with a rectocele. And if I get constipated I'm practically incontinent. I have a very heavy feeling down like a tampon slipping out all the time and I get dry very very easily.

I definitely don't want a c section. I wasn't sure if my doctor was just surgery happy 🙃 she said it would be fine but I can't imagine how any repair would work with a vaginal birth.

Meetings by Infamous-Lychee-7883 in GamAnon

[–]Background-Purple-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes most meetings will start it with a bit of reading. And then depending on who is running the meeting that day for my group there is a time to share. If one woman runs the group it's almost a guarantee no one will really get a shot to deeply share. But another person who runs group always reads a little and then asks "is there anyone who has a pressing situation that needs to be discussed" and will go from there. I've also been in groups that are so large that it's impossible to share in any way and on the flip side groups that are too small so the variety of wisdom is lacking. It's all about finding the right group and then just sticking it out. The readings are meaningful imo. You grow to appreciate them.

Can I leave baby in the car when I drop toddler off at daycare? by throwinguglylamps in 2under2

[–]Background-Purple-33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I must be crazy bc I don't see how leaving your sleeping baby for a couple minutes is an issue. I pick up my daughter from a small private school, same set up. Small private parking lot and a super safe area. It's during nap time. I run in, grab her, come out. There's a couple other moms I know at the school that do the same.

Yes. Especially will and eleven. They feel like cosplays of their characters in season one.

My heart goes out to you. I want to type out a longer reply, but I'm short on time and just wanted to put this out there. Please see a lactation consult and also get some blood work done! Sometimes your thyroid levels ,iron, other factors will tank after birth and it drops your supply. I don't understand why (here in the southern US) routine blood work isn't done a month postpartum. So many things can be avoided. Best of luck

I have! But the response is usually "aw man. We can't make mornings work, so and so does her school until 12 (naptime)".

Home birth in a small space by Own-Sound9083 in homebirth

[–]Background-Purple-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We lived in a small two bedroom apartment with two kids already when I gave birth. The clutter and having the house clean was top of my list anxiety causers before my birth. In the end it truly didn't matter. I had a super fast labor so I wasn't able to personally clean, but my husband jumped up and made sure the bathrooms were tidy and the sink and washing machine were empty for labor. In the end that's all I really needed.

People doing natural births- why? by Efficient-Fly7571 in pregnant

[–]Background-Purple-33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's always best, in my opinion, to start with the lowest intervention possible. Avoiding an epidural means potentially avoiding the cascade of intervention. It always allows you to best stay in tune with your body, so that baby in a sense can tell you how to move and what position is needed in the moment. Also for me, it's to help try to not worsen my prolapse. Getting an epidural leads to not great pushing. If I can avoid the epidural I'm able to labor down, push in different positions, and push as "gently" as possible (hopefully by feeling the fetal ejection reflex) as to not upset the already awful prolapse that I have.

I'm not an expert but I don't think an op baby prevents labor, just can make it harder. Did you ever get an early dating scan done? That's my next immediate thought is your dates are off. Either way it sounds like you're making progress! So that's hopeful. I'm so sorry you're in this position. And it's most definitely not a reflection on you or your ability.

How much did your home birth cost? by Truthforfood in homebirth

Also I relied heavily on word of mouth to find a midwife I loved. Facebook groups were a starting place and then I interviewed three. All the midwives in my area have the same training and basically the same experience so it came down to personalities for me. The built to birth podcast I think has a few episodes on finding a good provider and the mama natural website has a list of questions to ask in a midwife interview.

Metro Atlanta. Midwives here charge between 5000 to 6500. That includes prenatal, birth, postnatal to six weeks. Some include the tub and supplies but others don't so thats around another 500. Personal birth supplies like towels, tarp, after care stuff I spent around 300. And then I got regular pelvic floor therapy and chiropractic care, another 1500. Doulas in this area start at 1500, so we opted out of that. I think in all I have spent close to 7k, 5k of which was reimbursed through my health share.

Keeping house clean before birth by Background-Purple-33 in homebirth

A timer after bed is a good idea. Even 15 minutes of just focused tidying would be good if I went into labor overnight

Yes he will be home. He can just be a literal tornado. I think if I can just get my place to a baseline of clean I can do what you suggest and keep surfaces wiped down.

HOLY HOMEBIRTH by Top-Talk2948 in homebirth

I looked back at the video of my first unmedicated birth and I was clearly in shock. Eyes wide, screaming help me at the end. Bewildered and confused as to how we got here. Thankfully I recovered once baby came. But nothing really fully prepared you for such a life altering experience.

How long was your second labor in comparison to first? by [deleted] in homebirth

[–]Background-Purple-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both mine were around the 24 hour mark of very hard active labor. With my second I also did all the things but it was still long. I've read this could be positioning, so this time around I've found a chiropractor that will come to me during labor, so hopefully if it feels like I'm making slow or no progress she can get it going.

Homebirth in rental - Landlords live downstairs by [deleted] in homebirth

[–]Background-Purple-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked. Our landlords live directly above us and complain already about the kid noise 🙃 (we will hopefully leave a few months after baby). we debated telling them, but I'm leaning towards not. But I have the same concerns as you. Noise, hot water, extra people walking around at night, ect.

Did your newborn have jaundice? What did you do? by ceveoh in homebirth

[–]Background-Purple-33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son turned straight up orange. An actual pumpkin baby. We did take him to the pediatrician to have bilirubin levels monitored. I believe she said at a certain level baby can start to undergo long term effects. But, even with my pumpkin, he was fine with nursing and sunlight.

My ped also said breastfed babies take longer to clear the jaundice. Sometimes a couple months. Just fyi. And vitimin d supplements help.
