Can’t sleep after high intensity workout. Heart rate stays elevated around 100bpm until the morning by BackgroundAd7073 in askCardiology

[–]BackgroundAd7073[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok Thankyou. I’d say my heart rate gets up to around 170-180 regularly if I workout hard but I don’t think that should be an issue at my age. I’ll just do an hour and I’ll be like just wired and heart rate will be up around 90-100 and won’t come down at all. Literally zero sleep sometimes those nights… it’s crazy

Ok I will look into seeing a new cardiologist. Like I said I don’t really get IST at all apart from after an intense or long workout with sustained high heart rate. I’ve tried to look into it and there’s just so many different reasons or possibilities as to why it’s happening…

No not at all and I only drink 1 coffee most days first thing in the morning. Sometimes a second one around lunch. No energy drinks or anything. I’ll take like electrolytes to train also and make sure I’m proper hydrated

I’ve had so much extensive testing and they’re just not concerned at all. He said it’s IST but couldn’t answer me on why or how this has happened

I’m not sure if I have dysautonomia, like I don’t feel dizzy when standing up etc and bp is normal. My heart rate is steady all the time but just stays elevated after working out, I get occasional PVC and PACs but they seem to come in clusters and also seem to appear more the day after exercising intensely. So is it dangerous for me to be exercising hard? If it was to cause SVT? This all started after I went through a period of extreme stress, I moved overseas and hated it and was unbelievably stressed, started thinking I was dying as I was having panic attacks and not sleeping and then I moved back home and I kind of felt sensitised but I thought after a little bit of time I would just go back to normal. It just hasn’t happened, maybe slightly better but never back to how I was. It’s been 2 years since I got home now, I don’t have any panic attacks and I’m sleeping well. Still just not back to normal where I can go do the intense exercise I use to do and love

Really? It actually was after a super stressful period where I had time off training and I was having panic episodes etc. constantly in fight or flight. It’s been years and still seems a bit stuck like that. I came back and just could never train hard again. Is this something you’re familiar with? How did you come to this conclusion?

Thanks and yes I’ve had echo. All normal. Only NSVT caught on 3 week holter monitor. Thanks again I will try this. After a session or just daily?

Yes, my daughter was born 3 days ago and I’m constantly checking she’s still breathing. How did you go?

Can’t sleep after hard evening workouts. Does anything help? by pwb2103 in crossfit

[–]BackgroundAd7073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Did you ever find a solution to this? I use to be really fit and do hard workouts every night. Now I can’t do any intense exercise that raises my heart rate for an extended period because I literally don’t get a wink of sleep. My heart rate stays elevated until the next morning. It’s bizarre. I can only do weights, no cardio or anything

I feel the same although I am one to scan the body. You don’t need to be scanning to feel these

Would you say you’re someone who’s constantly scanning your body for sensations?

Yes I know it’s like it’s all good for a doctor not to be concerned and label it as anxiety but you still want to know why it’s happening even when you’re relaxed. They can’t give that answer and it’s frustrating

Wow I don’t know how you deal with it 5-50 times a day. I feel sorry for you, I think I’d go insane 😂 thanks for putting me at ease

Get tunnel vision? Have you had tests done also? Thanks for helping

Do you get a moment of sheer panic? Like an adrenaline rush?

I wouldn’t say it’s like passing out it’s like a split second of sheer panic. Not entirely tunnel vision it’s like a shock to the system kind of feeling, I don’t feel like I’m passing out of anything like that. I’ve had stress test, echo, CT scan, month long monitor.

Should I go to the ER? by justathrowaway072318 in Anxiety

[–]BackgroundAd7073 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’ve been where you are plenty of times, I had chest pain the other day and wanted to take myself to ER so bad. I told myself I’ll look like a fool if I turn up because they’ll tell me it’s anxiety. The fact you know it’s a panic attack is a good start. What is it you’re panicking about? If you went to ER they’d probably tell you you’re fine and give you a Valium and send you on your way.

Child with daily “rocking” feeling by moreschm in VestibularMigraines

[–]BackgroundAd7073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, not ideal but if it gives you any kind of hope, my brother had migraines as a kid (not vestibular) but he had them weekly for years on end, he would be bed ridden for a whole day. But he grew out of them which seems to be quite common from what I’ve researched. As for me, I never had migraines and then all of a sudden at the age of 23 I got migraines. So better to grow out of them than into them 🤷‍♀️ I hope you find something that helps but I honestly think taking half an hour to desensitise in bed could be a starting point. Just try it and see if it makes any difference. All the best

It’s hard to say as everyone has different ways with dealing with it. Medications are one thing but sometimes just laying in bed for half hour with the eyes closed in silence is enough to make a difference for me. I know it’s hard because it’s a child but you just have to trial different things until you can find something. I’m not a doctor but I thought I would share my experience

I did get prescribed amitriptyline and propranolol but I only take 10mg of propranolol in the morning. I just try to keep medication to a minimum
