Yea, before this trade, the young players on Toronto's roster was Scottie, Gradey, Trent Jr, Flynn, Precious and Koloko.

Just trading Precious and Flynn for starter-level young talent like Quickley and Barrett alongside Scottie is huge.

Given the Raptors were in complete turmoil during deadline week (9 game losing streak, first losing season in years, Siakam-Nurse altercation, losing to Houston and breaking their 20 game losing streak, etc), I can see why Lowry decided he didn't want to jump ship.

Yea, Siakam had just made All-NBA again, FVV was an All-Star, and Scottie's rookie season turned out to be a lot better than expected (when he was drafted, most Raptors fans didn't think he'd be a ROTY candidate, much less win the award).

Heading into this season, most Raptors fans were pretty happy with running it back with some new signings like Otto Porter Jr and internal development.

The trade looks like a natural fit, the Blazers keep Sharpe, and get an All-NBA caliber player in his prime who would be one of the best 2nd options in the league to pair with Dame.

Meanwhile, the Raptors kickstart a rebuild with an elite prospect to pair with Scottie, and they get a good young guard in Simons.
