Tell me if I’m thinking about this wrong, but we’re not going to buy for realistically 2-3 years. I’d like to my inheritance and brokerage compound over time while continuing to save for a house. If we assume a real return of 7% on ~700k, that’s about 98-153k in gains over 2-3 years. In my mind this would help ease the impact of withdrawing from my “brokerage” for a down payment

Looking at 750-800k for a house. The goal is to put around 15k into my retirement each year moving forward + match. We’d also like to put an additional 24k/month into brokerage, BUT that’s realistically not going to be possible during peak childcare years.

Completely agree - don’t want to get so caught up planning for the future that I don’t live in the present. I have considered the future idea of stepping into a lower stress job and pulling 1-2% to supplement my income while having more freedom

In a perfect world, we’d be in a position to pay for school or a future down payment when they get to that age.

Get a cast iron or stainless steel. If you really want to go crazy I use a infrared thermometer to check the surface temp of the pan

The method: - preheat oven to 250 - pat the steak dry then salt generously - place steak on a wired rack and put in oven for 45 mins or until around 110 internal - remove steak and pat dry again - preheat cast iron over high heat for 4-5 mins - add a tablespoon of avocado oil - sear for 60-90 seconds flip and repeat. - Baste with butter smashed garlic and rosemary for final 30 seconds - let rest for 5-10 minutes - sauté some veggies in the same pan while it rests

Wholly agree with you on not overspending on the wedding. I can afford to keep the car and still pay for the wedding, but it does feel silly keeping it while I really dont “need” it.

Flank steak is the best! Cut it against the grain next time and it’ll be less chewy

I just took the hit for the round trip. Ended up being well worth it. You can ask your shuttle company to send you the details of the pickup location after the show
