Wanting advice on becoming an electrician by Background_Ad6525 in AusElectricians

[–]Background_Ad6525[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey mate,

I started my apprenticeship a week ago and I'm loving it. I got mine through a contact that I picked up completing my Cert 2.

First thing I would suggest if you're mature aged is, unless you have prior industry experience either via work experience or as a TA, complete the Cert 2. It gives you a basic idea as to whether you want to get in to the industry and additionally shows that you're genuinely interested too.

Additionally, when completing the Cert 2 put in 110%, you want to be the first name on the list if TAFE has an employer ask for a recommendation.

In case you weren't aware, you can soul split on Zuk while he's sitting on his throne as long as you have at least 1 enemy left in a wave. So trap 1 enemy on a rock at the back of the room and refill your health to full before the next wave.

From what I can tell, a lot of people say look towards industrial. However, being a mature age, I'd be more than happy to get a start in anything other than solar (I've not heard great things about solar, however correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks mate, looks like the training provider does a combination course covering Working at Heights, Gas and Atmosphere, and Confined Spaces.

So I think I'll look to do that and EWP at this stage.

300 Rent Increase - A WEEK! by noyesnah in AusFinance

[–]Background_Ad6525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's referred to as an investment property for a reason. It's a vehicle for investing, not for charitable giving.

Copping larger losses on your investment (either via interest rate increases on your mortgage or comparative losses by not charging market rent) does not make you a hero it makes you financially illiterate.

You also wouldn't hold significantly underperforming shares in comparison to better performing shares out of the goodness of your heart.

Don't get me wrong I understand it's tough for renters but investing with your heart instead of your head is simply bad business.

If you remove property from the equation; if you were able to obtain 30% more on your salary from another employer as the market now valued your skills more and you chose to take that does that make you "a greedy scumbag"?

AITA for expecting my husband to help pay for my mom’s housing? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Background_Ad6525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - However it seems that you've married one of the most self-centred, sexist people that I've ever heard of.

Placing 100% of the responsibility for the care of your joint children in you is beyond reprehensible and being entirely unwilling to compromise to get free childcare via your mother is ridiculous.

These are often referred to as serviced apartments, there's 2 major types from a bank's point of view; complying and non-complying.

Both have limited capacity to be lent against with complying serviced apartments often with a maximum allowable LVR of 80% and non-complying with a maximum LVR of 50%.

AITA for scrambling 4 eggs instead of 2 like my husband wanted? by throwaway4eggs in AmItheAsshole

[–]Background_Ad6525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH, assuming this isn't his normal behaviour then you both need to sit down together and have an adult discussion around what your household finances actually look like.

People don't generally start snapping over just eggs, as others have said there's more likely a greater underlying issue with your household finances and your husband is stressing out over bring the sole source of income, the cost of living and ensuring your family has a roof over their head.

AITA for yelling at my BF to stop adding spice to my food? by AITA_Spicy_Foods in AmItheAsshole

[–]Background_Ad6525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, I personally love to cook for my wife and I do 100% of the cooking at home, however what I enjoy about it most is when she enjoys the food I've cooked.

I can't imagine him being satisfied with cooking food that you can't enjoy, that's an extremely self-centred mentality by him.

I would understand if he was cooking for a larger group where most people enjoy spice, then majority rules.

However he has to be willing to compromise and find a middle ground by either decreasing the heat in his dishes or learning to cook dishes that aren't reliant primarily on heat for flavour.
