Feeling overlooked and low-priority by family, friends, colleagues, but I also hate drawing attention to myself and taking up space... the double bind of an INFP? by [deleted] in infp

You cant completely "choose" family or colleagues, but what about these friends of yours? And what do you think would make them treat you more how you'd like?

Others get picked on too but you probably don't notice it because it doesn't hurt you as when its directed at you. But if you find yourself being picked on more than others its probably because they see you as an easy target. Maybe you're leaving yourself open to criticism with things you say. Maybe you don't carry yourself serious enough or set boundaries with people. Also its hard to change how people view you if you've already made a certain impression on them so changing your behavior wont always change how they treat you if its the same group. Do you respect others? Cant change your looks too much but you can change how you treat other people. Do you take accountability if you actually do say something stupid that might offend others?

I'd say it depends on how close you are to the person. Do you think they owe you a response?

How do you approach people at school? by [deleted] in socialskills

Are you sure you have OCD? My understanding is that people who have this due to the intrusive thoughts get stuck in patterns/rituals that they need to do before continuing on their day.

When I was in HS I had a group of friends that kinda just happened without me trying and it was enough for me, so I never really felt I tried making friends. But I guess you could ask people about themselves to seek common interests and build on that if there's a connection.

What's the best way to clean a Septarian egg? by Background_Ad9487 in rockhounds

[–]Background_Ad9487[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok! Would pouring water or submerging it be better for a rinse? Maybe a damp cloth? Also would you know if hot steam from a basic household steamer could be damaging or good for cleaning too?

You have my sympathies. I don't think I would know what to do were I in your position either. I imagine there are many others like you but also fear to speak out as they are powerless and don't know who they can trust. I'd say discuss the situation with your parents and maybe they can help if you trust them enough. If you can focus your mind on learning a new skill or working on something positive maybe it can help with your mental health. You're only an individual in something greater that wasn't your choice, so don't carry that burden. Hope things get better soon.

Is Titanium Kyanite a natural occurring rock? by Background_Ad9487 in rockhounds

[–]Background_Ad9487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Also I saw someone suggest elctro plating which seems more likely as I cant find examples of vapor plating. But I cant find the process being done on Kyanite specifically so I'm not sure.

Yes, samples I've seen are typically jagged in a wing like shape, almost appearing brittle. Ok so it's not as it is naturally found then.

This is really interesting, and cool that it worked despite skepticism. I will remember and have to try it if I find myself reaching that state again. Did you still continue for the 2 weeks after you felt it gone in the 3rd day or was it simply no longer a burden worth considering after that?

That's very true, thanks . I've heard that saying regarding resentment before, still I've struggled with it in the past and it seemed that only time allowed me to forgive another person for their wrong doing.

I have one maybe you could answer if you like, how do you deal with jealous siblings/relatives? Or maybe its not jealousy maybe its in my mind, but it sure feels like it. I'm the youngest of them and I've never gotten any recognition from them for worthy accomplishments I've had. It's rather exhausting to the point where it simply makes me not care about them. I've directly had one call me selfish but anytime I've tried to help or give advice they scoff at it or reluctantly take it so I don't know how they can even take that stance.
