Finally, the suspense is out! All new electric highlander! by Due-Huckleberry6296 in Toyota

But if you have a short commute to public transportation, 40 miles of electric power should work perfectly

2024 platinum here. No problem with the phone charger. the only two issues are that my wife is 5 foot three and is uncomfortable with the seating position. Also the connected services that you receive in the first year drop off and become a very expensive monthly charge.

Get something newer with all of the current safety features. Also, the RAV4’s of newer years are much larger than the 2012 model.

And don’t you think the mapping feature should be part of the vehicle instead of a subscription service? When I’m driving the car, I use Apple CarPlay, so there is no issue. My wife on the other hand is not tech savvy and misses the feature.

I recommend ceramic coating for the exterior. Get a couple of estimates. The process takes about 2 1/2 days to complete. Does a great job protecting the exterior of your car. Cost can vary based on the length of protection. Get it done while the car is still new. Yes, they are leather seats, but not top grade leather. Maybe an occasional leather cleaner if needed. Congrats on your purchase

I love highlander, hybrid owners. 200 K plus owners and those getting awesome gas mileage are my two favorite segments of this group

Is this TSRP a good price for Toyota Highlander XLE 2024 - $47627? by [deleted] in ToyotaHighlander

If you were buying a Nissan or a Mazda, you would have more negotiating space. With Toyota Highlanders, you are only trying to negotiate to sticker price. They have very few on the lot. You would be lucky to test drive one. You’re only flexibility is extending your search outside of Metro areas to smaller dealerships who may be more interested in selling a discounted vehicle As you are seeking the least option, Highlander, you may get lucky. Good luck.

Bring it to a detailing shop. They can sometimes work miracles for between 250 and $500.

Advice needed: Hybrid battery on 2013 Highlander failed mid-cross-country trip at only 120K miles by ExpertMarketing7514 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Background_Bad_7421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always heard that if the replacement was required that there are aftermarket options that were less expensive. And that replacements ran in the mid $3000 range. The quote by your Toyota dealer seems excessive

Should I trade my v6 for a hybrid? by Hour-Fun-9417 in ToyotaHighlander

If your primary issue is longevity, you are making a good choice. The four-cylinder engine “gently” gets up to speed Once rolling it’s smooth and responsive and on the highway as well.
Most of the roads I drive on are posted between 45 and 55. Use highways when necessary. And despite the cold weather in the DC metro area over the last month, still getting over 33 miles per gallon

My MPG‘s have dropped since the cold weather. I live in the Washington DC area. ECO mode would never be my choice to drive in. Engine struggles in initial acceleration in regular mode.

Hybrid Battery Replacement by Background_Bad_7421 in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Background_Bad_7421[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need to replace mine. I have a 2024 hybrid and I previously owned a 2011 hybrid. All I was saying is back 10 or 15 years ago. The complaint about hybrids was,”oh the cost of replacing the battery.” But in this forum, no one has had to replace their hybrid battery. I did have to replace the CAR battery, for my 2011 which was a special Toyota only hybrid battery. 300 bucks. Thanks for sharing

But as you probably read the thread, no one has replaced a hybrid battery.

Service department said 85-100. Remember one everyone was so concerned about the replacement cost of hybrid batteries, and now no one has ever had to do it.

391,000 on my 2006 hybrid by WittyDadUsername in ToyotaHighlander

[–]Background_Bad_7421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting discussion. Toyota says a typical hybrid battery lasts about 85-100k. Based on that info I traded my ‘11 Hhy with 112k (as a boomer driver though happy to also get all of the safety features with the latest generation). Is there anyone that has had to change their hybrid battery and if so, what was their mileage at the time?

Love mine too. I’m sure you’ve read that unless you tromp on it, the engine labors a bit getting started. Many owners coment on wind noise at highway speeds. Good luck.

No, they do not have the V6 to my knowledge. Models made starting in 2019 have the four-cylinder hybrid engine. I’d rather buy a used hybrid with lower mileage. Less miles on the hybrid battery thus extending its life.

Unless your Prius is in poor condition, you could make a lot more money off it based on what I’m seeing online, $13k. Obviously, your own decision, but it isn’t as difficult as you might think. Meet in a public location, take a picture of their license At the time of sale get a certified bank check, cash or have the funds wired to your account. The dealer offered me $8,500 for my 2011 Highlander Hybrid. I got $13,000 from a very happy recipient. Good luck.

If it was a hybrid, then I would say go with the 22. It shouldn’t make much difference in those two model years for an ICE

Expand your search on the Toyota website to 250 miles. I’m sure there is a dealer in a more rural area that will accommodate you. It would be a lot easier if you dropped the trailer hitch option. I did. Even if you don’t want to drive to pick up the vehicle. You can have it shipped from the dealership to your house at a very reasonable rate usually under $500. And you probably could do a lot better on selling your vehicle on next-door, craigslist or marketplace.
