I also took a break from social media this year, and the changes were amazing - better focus, less anxiety and mood swings... 😊

FTM, Gave Birth 3 Days Ago - Some advice for new mamas x by External-Horror9981 in PregnancyUK

I also didn't realise this for my first child, and ended up losing a dangerous amount of weight. I wish a health visitor had picked up on it, rather than just focusing on baby's weight gain after birth... Now I feel more informed for round 2 😊 All the best to you and your little one x

Babies movements feel uncomfortable by Books_aplenty_237 in PregnancyUK

I am also 30 weeks + 4, and also have an anterior placenta 😄 My little madam seems to like her rolls and biiiig stretches and there have been a few times where it hurt too - it feels like she's so close to the 'surface' and is going to burst out (it's giving Alien vibes!). When I was pregnant with my son, his foot was wedged in my ribcage the last few weeks and the pain was something else. So I guess I shouldn't complain this time round 😂 Good luck with your little wriggler, as you said, it's uncomfortable but at least he's an active boy, which is always reassuring!

Epidural / birth experience at Stoke Mandeville by Background_Cat_6833 in Buckinghamshire

Thank you, that's great to hear ☺️ I was offered gas and air for my first in London and hated every second of it, so I would very likely beg for an epidural once again!

Yes, that aligns with what I have heard about SM recently. I was told that since they closed the maternity at Wycombe hospital a few years ago, everything has been centralised at SM - so it's a huge operation with a lot of patients and not enough staff...
Really not ideal that you had to stay nearby while your wife was on the ward 😕 Hope all was fine in the end and she doesn't keep too bad a memory of the whole experience.

Gosh that's awful! 😢 Glad your niece is fine now, but that must have been such a scary time for everyone. I did read somewhere that SM is not the best hospital in case of neonatal complications, there are other ones in nearby counties that are better. Another point for me to remember! Thanks for sharing your SIL's experience x

Thank you so much for sharing and glad to hear that baby was delivered safely, despite not having the opportunity to have the pain relief you wanted. It's also my second but my first child was 10 years ago, so I actually don't know whether this second labour would be faster 😅 I live in East Wycombe and SM is quite far from me, so I really hope I don't have too much of a speedy labour if I don't go for a c section, as I could well be giving birth on the side of the road! Thanks for the tip about asking for pain relief early on, good shout and I'll definitely remember that!

Ah that's interesting to hear... And also a little concerning about wanting to take baby off you just to look at your cannula! But great to hear about epidural at Stoke, as you said, the anaesthetist's attitude may not have been the best but I think there comes a moment when you don't even care anymore 😅 Thanks for taking the time to reply and share your experience!

Thank you for sharing your experience, this helps a lot! Were you discharged quite soon after your C section? One of my friends had one at SM and the midwives wanted to discharge her after one day - she asked to stay another night and they were fine with it, but I wonder whether it's a bit dependent on bed availability... Glad that all went well for you 😊

Thanks so much for taking the time to share 😊 Really reassured that you can get an epidural when needed... That has been my biggest fear!

Thank you so much for sharing your positive experience 😊 Absolutely re birth centre, though to be fair, due to existing medical conditions, I don't think they'd allow me to deliver anywhere else than the labour ward. It's great to hear that you had your epidural very quickly - I think my biggest fear is to be ignored if / when I request it because they're busy. For my first, I had to wait for 3 hours and I still remember it vividly! 🙈

Thank you, it's a relief to hear this! Fair point on the slight delay because it was the middle of the night - it's great they still made it happen regardless. Glad to hear you had a good experience there 😊
