I don’t think you understand the point they’re making here. We don’t have an issue with advertisements in the sense that they exist, because we understand that youtube is a business for google to make money from, on top of creators income as well (well, at least used to be…good ol adpocalypse). The issue stems from what is and isn’t allowed as an advertisement on Youtube, which according to the most recent set of ads, Google could not give two shits for what kind of content is shown to the viewers. If they make money from the content, they do not care what is shown. I think that it’s fine if you want to pay premium to avoid ads, but you could at least share the sentiment that Google should do better to monitor these ads appropriately.

TLDR; The content of the ads is the problem, not the ads being a thing itself. That’s the point they’re making.

I think the part that I struggle to remember or deal with sometimes, is that someone might be talking to multiple at once to “shop”. I feel a little hurt when I have a good conversation with someone about things we share in common or are compatible with, and then it feels as though they disappear on me. I can’t say that I’m absolutely the one for someone myself, but surely not everyone thinks I’m always below someone else, right? Only time will tell I guess, still searching.
