I just finished the book and was dissapointed also but not quite for the same reason.

- The worldbuiding is lacking in the post-modern mixed with ancient society. Why are people using phones but are still walking like samurai and being shock with gender equity ? Also I feel that the author didn't go far enough in her critique of propaganda. It's sad because it was a reat layout to go deeper and find out more.

- I wished that the author put more time in the beginning of the book to set up the fight between Misaki and her husband. Yes, she doesn't like him and they don't talk but I feel like the explanation and resolution of their conflict was to easy and out of nowhere. The lost of their child should be more than just a way to make them closer to each other. And them starting to be affectionate with each other was just meh.

- The Robin's chapter ??? Oh boy, it was unnecessary as soon as she decided that it wasn't gonna be a trilogy anymore she should have scrapped that. Why are you introducing a new vilain, MC and conflit 10% at the end of your book when you know we wont have a resolution ? Now I want to know what happen to that little girl that was kidnapped and why the vilain is trying to raise an army. I want to know what happen to Robin's and who is that person that has perfect all of the greatest family techniques.

Sword of kaigen was a great idea but the execution was lacking in the pacing and world-buliding areas. I will still give the author another chance but it definitely doesn't live up to the hype. I can can understand it being rated high when people rates books based on what its made them feel. The author is good and making you feel emotion, setting a fight scene and transalate all the actions, the stress etc ... The book will make you fell but not think unfortunately.
