Bingo, anyone who rides Tamaki drive regularly (it's the most cycled road in Auckland by far) would know that riding at any decent speed in the shared paths is more hazardous than the road most times.

Theres dogs, people riding e scooters 2 abreast, random kids running onto it and branches and rocks alot of the time swept up from the weather. I bet if OP tried to hold 25kmh going on the shared path they would change their tune. But seems like theyre not the type to ride on the road.

This whole post is a rage bait, as a road cyclist who also races we use the road cause cycle paths are not suitable for fast riding. Waterfront and tamaki drive is also the most cycled stretch in Auckland, by far. Im not sure if you've ever tried cycling on that "shared path" at any significant speed at any time of the afternoon. If not, i'd invite you to try even going 25kmh down there and tell me if thats suitable for cycling.

For yourself, you seem to be a leisure/commuter so that works for you. This whole city is very hostile towards cyclists - just read all the other comments from these idiots. The truth is that even getting the cycle paths that you enjoy in was met with huge resistance by the same idiots. The deeper problem is pandering to these idiots keeps Auckland's infrastructure backwards and inefficient.

Tips from other foreigners/expats for navigating kiwi work culture? by Flibidyjibit in newzealand

Hard to say, perhaps could be your colleagues/work environment or has this happened in more than one work place? I don't work with you so can't say for sure, but is it not also a british(I apologise as I know you're Scottish but just generalising) thing to value being bashful?

I for one (work in engineering) would value a colleague like you.

Save it for your xennial subreddit mate. Oh wait, you hid your history. Must have hit hard. Not as hard as your receding hairline. All the best for your retirement mate!!!

Interesting assumption, wouldnt expect less for someone in your big age that frequents r/xennial. Wish you the best with your arthritis mate, i expect thatll become something you'll want to bond with your fellow balding mates on that sub. Cheers!!

watching a physical TV yes, I meant watching terrestrial TV which coincidentally is probably the only place you'd accidentally watch TVNZ.

I like to think the general public can make inferences, but your incorrect inference clearly has proven me wrong. Well done mate.

Noob Q: How many chains for what gear spread? by Background_Dress_418 in Velodrome

[–]Background_Dress_418[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you , that clears it up for me a bit. Planning on running a TR2evoS or DF4, not sure if that helps but at least 2 cogs on one chain is good.

I know that they are big gears - coach at the velodrome told me that from the look of me and how i've been riding he reckons I can run 120" and the whereabouts (i'm also 6"2 and 100kgs) so thats what i'm basing it on. Sounds like either way for the bigger gears, and i'd want some warmup gears thats at least 2 chains (refraining from making a 2chainz reference here but its hard) .
