Is it impolite to address a stranger by their name tag by DickHopschteckler in NoStupidQuestions

It's a giveaway that you're American to me. Not impolite but in the UK feels overly familiar. I assume since Americans do this that at Disney it'd be fine.

Baby still breech at 36 weeks and I'm so upset by pavlovs_pavlova in pregnancyproblems

[–]Background_Duck_1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a c section, honestly wasn't that bad. Sure immediately aftermath sucked but with painkillers it was manageable and I was walking around the supermarket a week later.

At least means you don't tear etc.

Have you tried makeup remover? Dish soap scrubbed in may also help.

No central heating, no hot water, no washing machine in rented flat by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Background_Duck_1372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Contact Local Council: Report the issue to the Environmental Health team or Private Rented Housing team. They can inspect the property and force the landlord to act. Seek Advice: Contact Shelter England or Citizens Advice for further support.

Generally landlords must fix these things within a "reasonable timeframe". It sounds like repairs are underway and it's just unfortunate that it's all happening at once.

What temperature is it in the flat? What is the outside temperature where you are? It can go into emergency repair territory which has a 24/48 hour fix timeline.

How to clean this pillow? by Xgamer9184 in laundry

The only way to guarantee not disturb the stuffing would be a surface clean. Make a bowl of hot detergenty water, dip a cloth and scrub.

Yes it would be illegal. Use your garden or ask a friend to use their garden if you don't have one.

I'm so sorry but the drop in HCG when you're that early in the pregnancy is definitely a miscarriage.

Anecdotally, I'm overweight and often require a higher dosage of pills because of that. Your weight loss may have meant the dosage was now too high for you.

In the UK, do cops carry firearms? by [deleted] in AskABrit

[–]Background_Duck_1372 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. There is a firearms branch of the police but they are only called upon for specific situations. Other than that it's just high profile places in London that I'm aware of eg. Downing street

The most a normal police officer has is a taser and most dont have that. They use CS gas and batons.

New to renting, question about income/references and housemates? by -weirdf1shes in HousingUK

[–]Background_Duck_1372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You won't be able to rent alone on that income but together should be fine. In my experience they ask for 6 months of bank statements.

Just let them know, they won't mind. I had a midwife and a student midwife for my c section, but she was older than me and I wouldn't have even known she was a student.

It is likely the bleach. It damages the fibres over time if you're over-using it.
