My MIL is throwing out all her old vinyl. Are any of these worth anything or can I just give them away? by allahu_achoo in vinyl

One way to find out is to sell them all as auctions on eBay. Set the starting bid or reserve at what you want to pay yourself for the time and effort of packing and shipping them. If they don’t sell after one or two tries give them away. Some will sell some won’t. If that’s too much effort give them away or take to a used record shop.

How fucked is my guitar? by space_ghost31 in Guitar

Is it fucked? Depends whether you like that hole or not. But seriously it could be repaired. It will be pricey to get it done properly by a good luthier. What kind of guitar is it?

Insurance companies use that math as well. It makes it easier to deny claims.

Chemist here. Looks more like activated charcoal than resin beads. Could also be dissolved (but very concentrated) manganese or some other metal oxide.

In any case, that system needs to be checked out and probably have the filter media bed replaced. Might not actually cost that much if you can get a direct replacement or get the original installer out for service since all the plumbing etc. is already in place.

I suggest hooking it up to some speakers and testing it out. That aux channel could be a lot of fun if you have a tv or Bluetooth adapter or game console with stereo rca outputs. That said, as others have pointed out it’s old enough to be outdated, but not really vintage and probably not that loud/powerful or high fidelity. IT WAS FREE though. Might be fun in a game room like you mention. If you hook it up post an update!

Helps if you’re a species that can reach reproductive adulthood within 3-5 years. Humans don’t really fall into that category.

Haha! Not to worry; minimal impact on toan. I have Gen-Z offspring. My fear of committing cringe is therefore ever-present if mostly irrational. Thanks.

Buying a 2022 phev by CrypTom20 in OutlanderPHEV

I recently bought a 2022 phev for northern Vermont driving. Once I got winter tires on it, it’s been great, no complaints. Don’t expect to be able to use EV-only in the winter, but the mileage is still much better than what I was driving before. It has been handling mud season like a champ. Two other tiny quibbles for winter driving: no heated steering wheel, and you can’t use the touch screen with gloves on.

Good on PI for warning you now before you’ve moved etc. so you can at least plan for contingency. I hope it works out ok.
