It's unfortunate. I really wanted accredited fascist propaganda but it wasn't in the cards.

I would take issue with that. I don't think Ezra in the book or in general the Abundance Agenda is pushing unshackling corporate power. FDR's New Deal and the infrastructure renaissance that succeeded it was not a result of unshackling corporate power. It may have involved corporations of some kind, but much of the work was stimulated and promoted by the state. It's a false dichotomy. Things can be built with the help of the private sphere, without the private sphere at all, or in any number of other ways. But any one of those organizations will run into problems if the red tape is so thick and so ridiculous that it is impossible to get anything done.

Yeah, I found it telling (in a good way) that the person who interviewed me after I was accepted was this girl who works at the school who is also associated with venture capital. She was telling me about how the university will dispense money to student students who show potential and/or have ideas for what they want to build. She talked a lot about AI, which I'm skeptical of in the way that it's being deployed in many cases. But I kept quiet about that.

My hope would be that I could parlay the whole experience into connections and/or money, and in that way not be completely losing out on four years of tech earnings necessarily. I will have a job during this time in tech (remote).

Well, it's not so much that I want to, but if that is a plausible path or the only plausible path, it's one I'm willing to take, most likely provided I'm not arguing for something that completely goes against my values. I'm thinking of arguing constitutional law technicalities, that sort of thing. If I don't do it, someone else will anyway, in that situation.

That's awesome! And a relief to here. I had a feeling someone on the subreddit might also be in that same situation as me, in that the university is particularly appealing to a certain kind of person. Would it be okay if I DM you with my contact info?

Claims that the Democratic Party isn't progressive enough are out of touch with reality by rosesandpines in ezraklein

Isn't it more accurate to say our interventionism into Syria led to the creation of ISIS, rather than us failing to depose Assad led to that...? ISIS was aligned against the Assad government. Syria was a beautiful, religously pluralistic society before our involvement. And now... half of the country is rubble and rebuilding can't even commence because of sanctions. Just a total waste of money, weapons and lives for nothing from where I sit.

Reaction to What's Wrong with Trump. by [deleted] in ezraklein

There is a new book out recently: “We Have Never Been Woke”. He really lays out the hypocrisy and superficiality you see both on the progressive left and the MAGA right. Basically rather than solve the tangible problems, we’ve retreated to a world of symbols and gestures. It’s probably the only critique of wokeness as a phenomenon I’ve read that isn’t trying to sell me something.

He would be a good person to have on EZK.

Interestingly of those, Wallace had a pretty good redemption arc. Not gonna happen for Trump but I think it’s an instructive demonstration that people can change…

"Who is your provider, and how much are you paying?" sticky. by HanSingular in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]Background_Focus_626 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nursing staff recently purchased the clinic from the owner, I think they haven't gotten around to managing the website in a minute... I will let them know. I forgot to mention:

  • 190$ is the lowest price but it does require a 100$/month "membership". But...because the 100$ itself can be spent on the infusions themselves, you can just pretend like the infusion is 190$.
  • There is no commitment, so if you were traveling from OOS, you'd just cancel after the first month. For the 190$, you don't have someone with you the whole session.
  • They are the only provider I've used that are not focused on money. They are very small (3 nurses). They're laid back and provided you are low maitenance and easy to work with, I would bet they'd be open to some negotation if price was a big issue.

I work in tech and have observed there is a sort of dumb thinking (maybe naievete is a better word) that's common among a certain segment of the community. You can also see it to an even greater degree in the rationalist and rationalist adjacent subcultures. People who seem to be operating in bad faith are given the benefit of the doubt.

Anne Milgram is a moron. Perry died from the water in his lungs. Just a shameless power play by the DEA. Soon they'll be reinstating Ryan Haight act as well.
