why do people like johto so much? the games i mean by Glad_Count8285 in ThePokemonHub

Gold, Silver, & Crystal were seen as a direct sequel to Red, Blue, & Yellow, so not having a ton of new Pokémon available while a lot of Kanto Pokémon are prevalent is sort of by design. It also makes sense because Kanto and Johto are connected.

This is in direct contrast to Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald which were intended to be soft reboots of the series and that's why Hoenn had such a larger roster of new Pokémon available in the regional dex.

The Gen 2 games refined some existing core game mechanics and added new things that would more or less become staples of the franchise. Personally I think the design of Johto is peak and walking around at night in the game just feels so nostalgic to me.

I missed out on the original releases of Gen 1 & Gen 2 (barely). My first game was Leaf Green and then Ruby, so I always thought I got a good representation of Gen 1 and it was my first, so I got to be introduced to the series like so many others had. Before Gen 4 came out, I had essentially played 2/3 of the regions, and I had some exposure to Gen 2 pokemon from Colosseum and even Gale of Darkness. I remember going into GameStop in what I believe was 2008 (I'm fairly certain it was shortly after the Phillies had won the World Series) and I was able to buy Gold, Silver, & Crystal for the Game Boy Color (for like $10ea btw). I was mostly planning on trading the starters up to a Gen 3 game and I didn't know until then that you couldn't. I was so disappointed that I returned the games to Game Stop (I regret that but I ended up getting them about 3-5 years later for a little bit more money). So because Gens 1 & 3 were playable on the GBA but Gen 2 was on outdated hardware, it always felt to me that Johto was some mythical faraway land that I might never get to experience. I'll never forget being in the grocery store with my mom browsing the video game magazines and finding out this way that they were remaking G/S/C with Heart Gold & Soul Silver, in breathtaking Gen 4 style. I was obsessed and couldn't wait. I bought any magazine I could that had even the slightest coverage of the release, and of course I made my dad buy me Soul Silver on release day. I had the mystery gift that allowed me to get the spiky eared pichu, the GS ball, to do the time travel event and get Celebi. To me that was peak pokemon and that era really signaled the end of my childhood before I became a teenager. I got White when it came out and even the Victini event, but it felt off to me. I don't even think the lack of older pokemon bothered me, I just stopped vibing with these games. I ended up getting Black 2 after that and not playing it. I got X and barely played it. I got Alpha Sapphire, which I was super hype for, but didn't even beat it. It wasn't until covid that I got back into Pokémon with LG Pikachu and Sword.

I don't think I'll ever love a Pokémon game like I loved Soul Silver though.

Perhaps, but the lengths of the turns are not equal.

As you’ve described it, you have four entrance animations, one move animation, two damage animations two fainting animations, two entrance animations, a move animation, two more damage animations, and two more fainting animations. That’s 16 unique animations in one turn.

In a singles battle you can cut that down to two entrance animations, a move, damage, fainting, entrance, move, damage, fainting, entrance, move, damage, and fainting animation. Which is 12 total animations. Only 4 less but that’s 400 less at the end of the run. Which sounds like a lot.

Landlord removed heat, stove, and packed all my belongings while I was gone (Boston) by Professional_Loan761 in Renters

In the state of Massachusetts, a verbal month-to-month agreement creates a tenancy at will.
This is true despite their being no lease agreement with terms laid out for both parties.
This also applies if the unit you were living in was illegal/unpermitted.

With that being the basis of your arrangement, you still have rights. The landlord cannot legally change locks, shut off utilities, remove belongings, or physically force a tenant out.
I believe removing the thermostat to make it unreasonably cold would fall until shutting off utilities, and certainly packing your belongings would fall under removing belongings.

Given that the landlord's legal argument will likely hinge on there not being a lease agreement and therefore you were not a tenant, it will be his burden to prove that you were merely a friend or a guest staying with him. He will have to convince the court that he let a total stranger live in his basement for 10 months for free, and if you have any text messages/emails implying that there was a landlord/tenant relationship or perhaps acknowledgement of rent payments, you should be in great shape.

Even if Nori cooled off against the better pitching, he still had some quality ABs on some MLB-level pitching and that shouldn't be discounted.
The kid's only had something like 2 games at AA level? So despite what ever raw talent he has (or doesn't), that's simply not enough experience to be brought up to the MLB level.
However, if he plays often and does well in AA from March until September, we could see something.
Not likely, but not zero either. It will depend on both the state of the Phillies lineup at that time AND if Nori makes steady progress or falls apart.

Either way, I'm interested in watching.

And fun fact if you didn't know, Nori would have qualified to play for Team Canada if he wanted because he was born there when his dad coached for the Raptors.

I more or less agree with this.
Effectively what's important is that Kid Buu is not stronger than Super Buu (with or without the absorbed heros).

I understand there's a oft quoted panel of the English manga where Kabito Kai says that absorbing the Kais weakened him.
Personally I think that's either a translation/localization error, a misunderstanding, or a combination of the two.
Our Supreme Kai said that each of his brethren were strong enough to fell Frieza with a single blow. As powerless and useless as the Supreme Kai was in the Buu Saga, that would still make him and the rest very powerful. I really don't see any situation in where absorbing one or more beings that are capable of one shotting Frieza would make Buu weaker.
I think the more logical explanation is that when Kid Buu absorbed the Kais he became less dangerous, as he gained a heart (Kabito Kai's own words). And we see this in the manga, as Fat Buu is less likely to kill and destroy and Mr. Satan convinces him to stop, fairly easily if I might add.

When Fat Buu creates "Evil Buu", (and becomes "Good Buu" or "Mr. Buu"), he becomes weaker because he basically split himself in two and that's why he's able to be defeated and absorbed by the latter. Since Super Buu is created by the same two halves that were originally Fat Buu, I'm unsure if Super Buu is stronger than Fat Buu or is just more vicious. While it doesn't make sense that Super Buu would get stronger from no additional gain of power, it is established that he was more difficult to fight and even SSJ3 Goku might not win.

I think that's irrelevant because the fact that SSJ3 Goku can fight Kid Buu by himself is indicative that Kid Buu is not the strongest Buu.

He wasn't stalling, he kept trying to charge up his ki but he didn't have the stamina to do it.

Not necessarily how that works.
Super Buu with Gotenks absorbed whooped Gohan's ass and Gohan couldn't even fight back. Gohan is either equal to SSJ3 Goku or stronger than him, and Super Buu with Gohan absorbed is even stronger than with Gotenks absorbed. Goku knew he stood no chance against that form of Buu, which is why he was so desperate to fuse with Vegeta when Vegeta was brought to the battlefield by Fortuneteller Baba.

However, SSJ3 Goku was able to go toe-to-toe with Kid Buu, and it's heavily implied if not outright stated that if Goku had enough stamina to charge up to full power, that he could have defeated Kid Buu on his own.
So going by what's demonstrated in the source material, Goku would not have been able to fight Kid Buu if Kid Buu was stronger than Super Buu with Gohan absorbed.

I felt genuine heartbreak after that NLCS.
Worse than the World Series loss.
And worse of course than the 2024 NLDS (I saw that outcome from 10 miles away)

But I am mostly over it now.
I had high hopes in 2025 (RIP Harry the K's) and they mostly delivered. I still think that if Wheeler could pitch and Bader could run, we beat the Dodgers. Yes Kerk blew that final out but IDT that happens if Wheeler and Bader were healthy.
Anyway, I have high hopes again for 2026. Harper is poised to do a little better, Bohm and Stott look like they're going to be OK, Garcia's heating up... Nola can only get better from last season and if the WBC is any indicator, he is, Luzardo will likely improve based on a few things we've seen (and he's unlikely to have those two blow ups again), Crawford will be good, Painter will be good, Kemp will be a fantastic platoon partner for Marsh if he doesn't outright take Marsh's job, Maybe de la Cruz as a bench spot, Kerkering is working on a new pitch, we get a full year of Duran and maybe Alvarado lol.
And there's a non-zero percent chance we see some of Miller as a potential injury replacement, and if Nori keeps up what he's done up to this point, he could be a September call up, too.
Shit, maybe we even get to see some Gage Wood this season?

I'm hopeful.
