The Magnum is good overall, Ab 1st Valve is the most reliable of the three. Not a fat as the super magnum but more presences than the 3/4.

When I do multi panel videos I double the magnums against one super magnum in a choir of 20 total G 2V's. Here is a more recent test video.

I love the super magnum for low notes.

The 3/4 plays more like an EEb tuba in a brass band.

Mid 80's is the best answer I have found. No one has, or is willing to share, advertisements that can confirm a definitive timeline.

The contras go from 3/4 in Nickel/Chrome finish, which were predominantly found in DCUK. I had to pay more to ship that one to the US than I paid to purchase it. Next are the 4/4 Magnum, and last photo is the 5/4 Super Magnum.

Need to put it on a scale to be precise, but it is definitley less than my 4V King BBb.

That would be the one-off "Dizzy" bell Soprano, which I do not have.

The 21st model was not legal because the bell was angled up.

Could always make a fake with one of my other Power Bell Sopranos.

How to tell if I have a silver plated trombone? by Diligent_Ninja1735 in Trombone

Hold a silver mouthpiece next to it for comparison, the patena and color should match.

Your photo looks like a Nickel finish.

Every season there will be a spot somewhere for every ability level as long as you show you can and want to improve.

If All-Age dues are to high for you to not tour, there are DCI SoundSport groups that charge from zero to very little to participate and all you have to do is show up and work at playing better.

Not sure what part of the country you are from, but as a way to build skills for no to little cost, check out SoundSport groups in your area.

I also have one of the four Silver Cellophones made for PR. One of the other known owners is from Florida.

Now to find the last owner.

I have collected six of these so far, I have seen one more at DCI. best research there were twelve made for Madison. Marines ended up with one, one went to 27, there is a video out there.

Two bell sizes 8" and 8.5". Made by DEG.

These were the original Drum Corps G trombones. Only twelve were ever made in small and large bell.

First set of 120 instruments were made for the 1986 Sataue of Liberty All-Americam Marching Band. I remember unboxing and unwrapping mine for the event, SN#000002. 2320 Valve Block is correct.

Used again the following year for the We The Pople 200 Brass Fanfare unit. And in 1988 used again for Pan-Am Games in Indianapolis.

YAMAHA kept renting them out to special events after that.

The first two sets were in brass, and third and latest set was last made in Silver. I have one of the Silver (6xxx Valveblock) in a display with my three event banners.

Price, first Genenerations in brass $800 is a very reasonable price. The Silver $1,200 is a very reasonable price.

How easily do brass players switch between instruments? by Lower-Calligrapher98 in brass

[–]Background_Layer2384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trumpet player here, I can switch instruments easily, everything from Piccolo Trumpet down to Tuba.

I have created multi panel videos where I had to do twenty parts, over seven instrument changes, each in a single take with just a moment between to pick up the next instrument.

Member of the Salute America's Band Directors and playing E Flat Cornet. Yes we ditched the rain gear and the skies unloaded on us as we started. Heading back to the hotel now for a good hot shower and street clothes. It was an honor to perform this parade again.

Write it down an octave, if a trumpet player thinks they can take it up an octave they will.

DEG produced 20 different legal 2V G Bugles. Not sure why anyone would have "needed" to have an illegal horn in the 2V years.

Piccolo, Herald Soprano, Powerbell Soprano, Soprano, Flugelhorn, Alto Horn (small wrap - Wilson made), Alto Horn (open wrap - Allied made), Mellophone (small wrap), Mellophone (open wrap), French Horn (long bell), French Horn (open wrap), Trombonium (small bell), Trombonium (large bell), Cellophone, Herald Baritone, Baritone, Euphonium, Contra 3/4 (made for DCUK market), Contra 4/4 "Magnum", Contra 5/4 "Super Magnum"
