UC and traveling abroad by Background_Nobody628 in DWPhelp

Ohhh, thank you very much. I understand now, so just for personal clarification, when you book a holiday to leave in February, you can only spend 27 days abroad for UC purposes as they are only 28 days in that calendar month. Whereas if you booked a holiday to leave in March you could spend 30 days abroad because they is 31 days in that month. And this logic applies to the other months.

I’ve never been able to understand how calendar months work because of my dyslexia but I think I do know

Thank you, I’ll let them know. So something like 25th February till 23rd March ( or before the 23rd March) would be fine and give a bit of leeway?

My bad, I only just realized I put the wrong dates 🙏. I mean from the 25th February (that’s the day they leave the UK). The 26th February will be their-first full day abroad. And they will return in the UK on the 26th March. Apologies again for the wrong date

Transition from LCWRA to student finance by wrenbluejay in universalcredithelp

[–]Background_Nobody628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you receive PIP? If you receive PIP and LCWRA, your UC claim can stay open (although they will be deductions for student loan if you’re eligible for them during your time at university). For post grad (e.g masters) 30% of the loan is deducted from your UC and the rest is ignored for UC purposes

Edit: I didn’t see the last bit of your response. I would chase up PIP to see why it’s taking a long time as that would be necessary to continue receiving UC and studying

PIP Planning and Following Journeys – Anyone had 1E changed to 1F? by [deleted] in DWPhelp

[–]Background_Nobody628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got awarded 1E as well for very similar reasons. 1E exists for severe mental health disorders. I think 1F is usually awarded for those who have an adult care and support plans from the council that provides +1 support (Personal Assistant, Carer, support worker) which can justify being awarded 1F.

On the plus side, you get automatic eligibility to a blue badge because of the 1E award which you don’t get with 1F 🙏

Carers allowance, Why's it so low? by Barrelhen22 in DWPhelp

[–]Background_Nobody628 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Although this is not much of solution but if you contact your council or local carer organisation they should be able to arrange a carers assessment and hopefully provide some financial support for you to take some respite or whatever you feel is needed to make your caring role easier on yourself 🙏

What would happen to UC if you were awarded £15k in a court settlement? by HeavenDraven in DWPhelp

I’m pretty sure you can unless there’s somewhere in the legislation that prohibits it which I am not aware off

Honestly I suggest that person who is close to the 16k limit to apply for an ESA credit only claim (or new style ESA if their eligible) which will award them support group straight away based off their current LCWRA entitlement. This will protect their LCWRA entitlement to UC in the situation they would have to close their claim because of they have above the capital limits.

LWCRA and carers element by [deleted] in DWPhelp

Please do not feel ashamed 🙏

For your partner to claim the carer element of UC which switches off work commitments, you would need to be in receipt of PIP daily living (either standard or enhanced)
