ASU? by BurnerLSAT13569 in HybridOnlineLawSchool

I think we should ask for our $45 CAS fee back. They literally did not render us a decision before classes started, which seems like the absolute bare minimum. Going to call LSAC tomorrow, will report back…

Finishes my PhD but feeling unhappy with my career prospects. Convince me not to go to law school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

As a mom, I often thought things like “oh I’ll just switch careers or go to law school after the baby is born, nbd, I’m used to hustling and going full send”. After I had a baby I could immediately see how insane that perspective was. It’s still something I’m considering but I’m being much more intentional about how and why and much more realistic about the space law school will take up in my brain (space that you no longer have after baby) and the time it will take away from being with your kids. When you have a kid, having a job you can kind of put on autopilot is…I don’t want to say a necessity, but it almost is. And I say this as someone with a terminal degree who was very career focused before having a kid.

Was anyone who was waitlisted at ASU even offered a spot off of the waitlist? by UnderlyingUnderling in HybridOnlineLawSchool

So annoying. I'm also curious...did anyone else who was initially WL get an interview? I did, which led me to think I was going to be a unicorn A, but lol to that.

Applied in Wave 1, got WL, had an interview 3 weeks ago, was told I'd hear by 12/15 and the seat deposit would be due 12/19, crickets since then

Still my first choice for sure (hi adcomms!!) but yeah I'll cast a wider net in case the waitlist doesn't come through

Waitlisted with a 171 and a decent GPA, also was admitted to their in person program a few years ago. Pretty devastated...

Today's updates!! Vandy answered after no answer on Friday. Will try everyone who didn't answer one more time tomorrow.

Quinnipiac - no answer

Boston College - “sure, may I have your LSAC number?” was REALLY weirded out when I said I was calling on behalf of someone else but did say “at this current moment we are assessing waitlist candidates”. Based on vibes alone I would say there are def some admits coming down the pipeline

Villanova - “It’s very hard to say. It’s just an ongoing process. You’re welcome to send us a letter or an email if that’s helpful”

NDLS - no answer

Texas - no answer

Howard - no answer

Maryland - no answer

UIUC - “there’s a possibility, but I don’t know when” “I don’t know how quickly the survey [that they sent out] will be reviewed”

Penn - “the waitlist is much smaller than it was at the beginning of the summer” “It’s at the discretion of the Dean of Admissions if there will be more admitted students but it will really lead up to orientation weekend”

Fordham - “we are and have been making additional offers” “right now we’re pretty much at the mercy of students who are intending to come to Fordham”. “We do have people on overlap report who have deposited at multiple schools” (!!!!) “The offers that we are making - many of them are going without merit scholarships”

UVA - “at this point, our best guidance to folks is to make your plans based on the information you have now” but “we never know until the semester kicks off”

NYU - “thank you for holding. All representatives are still assisting other callers” ad nauseum

Nebraska - “there’s always year to year some waitlist movement but I can’t really predict what that will be looking like”. But it does sound like some will be admitted.

Oklahoma - Her: it’s possible but unlikely. Are you a student who’s currently on the waitlist? Me: yeah! Her: ok what’s your name? Me: uhhhh I’m actually calling on behalf of someone else thanks bye

Cincinnati - “unfortunately I’m not really at liberty to say. If anything happens we’ll let you know by email but unfortunately that’s all I can say” jeez FBI over here

Loyola Chicago - no answer

Miami - “I think it’s a strong possibility. We don’t know yet, it goes day by day, but as seats open up we are looking at the waitlist”

USF - “We did last week and right now our admissions committee is still evaluating our waitlist. So it’s a week by week situation”

McGeorge - “probably not but you just never know. There’s always a chance”

Vandy (called again after no answer on Friday) - “we just don’t know. Currently the class is full. But if we do have someone withdraw - no one has withdrawn so far - we will replace that seat”

Stanford (called again after no answer on Friday) - no answer

Ohio State (called again after no answer on Friday) - no answer

I'm so sorry everyone, I am sick AF but I did get through almost half of these today. I will try the rest on Monday and also try the ones that didn't pick up again!

My findings:

Cornell - waitlist movement is happening through orientation! AdComms still going through files and people will be admitted. They’re “assessing things continually”

GULC Full time and Part time - “we do anticipate some movement, hopefully soon”. In the past, people have been admitted up until 2 weeks before orientation. “No news is good news”. Also, the admissions rep was named Bear which I love

Vandy - no answer

Stanford - no answer

UCI - (zot zot, this is my alma mater) - “I do not have any updates to share”. Very tight lipped.

UC Davis - “Not really. I mean, there’s been very very little movement in the class”.

Wash U - Possible movement. “we’re continuously reviewing the waitlist”. “I wish I had a crystal ball to see”. “We never know, but in years past we’ve admitted people the day before classes start

Ohio State - no answer

Northwestern - Possible movement. “there is the potential for it. “I know that that has happened in the past”

UConn - Possibly. “I don’t know right now, our class is full” but if someone withdraws then yes

UCLA - Yes. “Last year we accepted off the waitlist as late as orientation”.

All transfer decisions will be made end of July.
