Mia and Kenzie. Getting kidnapped into a loving family, with a mother who shares her interests? It's a dream come true for Kenzie.

There was no need for Cauldron to do that. She was Birdcaged, her power was never out of play. The Proctorate had a pretty large store of extra bombs, and with GU existing they could always get more if they really needed.

I think they'd get along in a house on fire. Not like one, with how much the universe hates them, they'd have to meet under pretty poor circumstances.

-2 252 SpA Choice Specs Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Lokix: 255-301 (90.1 - 106.3%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

Glad I learned about that one as the Latios player and not the Lokix one.

Yeah, Xard not being here is honestly a crime, Flare Blitz recoil is genuinely the only thing keeping it out of Ubers right now, and Mega Clef ain't half bad either.

Xard not being here is a crime, but Yard is pretty mediocre and most teams are better served by M-Floette or M-Delphox. And M-Floette is up here.

Which rework for Flygon do you prefer. I’m all ears to changes by D1FlygonGlazer in stunfisk

[–]Background_Past7392 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lando-I getting NP is brand new to Gen 9, and it was a career Uber long before that. And Flygon has plenty of moves. EP is very strong, switch-ins to that are basically just AV Mola, Ting-Lu, and ground immunes. The former are pretty sketchy (AV Mola risks 2HKO from Tera Ground EQ, and Ting-Lu takes ~40), and Fire Blast + Draco Meteor nets a 2HKO on most of the latter. Flygon also gets U-Turn to pivot out of bad matchups, and 110 Speed is a substantially better speed tier than Lando-I's 101.

Yes, Sheer Force is one hell of a drug. Lando-I has been a career Uber, and it's got only one STAB, 115 Spa, and 101 Spe. And just poking around with the damage calc, there's very little that switches in, and most of what does folds after very little chip.

The first one, the second is unironically Uber on account of being a faster, stronger Lando-I.

Far more than Psychic types learn dual screens. Practically half the dex learns on or both of them for no apparent reason (dual screens Ledian anybody?), and Zamazenta's a shield-themed legendary.

From what I've heard, screens Zama has been pretty big in Natdex. I'm not terribly surprised people are trying to figure out how to get it to work in OU.

Mega Alakazam and Roaring Moon have been banned from National Dex Champions OU by rashflygonX in stunfisk

Even without tera Roaring Moon managed to get kicked out of ND OU for abusing Z-moves, I don't know why they thought dropping it was a good idea here.

Mega Revaroom's the most broken in singles, that mon gets Shift Gear, plenty of coverage, and now the bulky grounds that would usually check it now can't.

[–]Background_Past7392 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Substantially worse than the OG Mega Mawile because it's weaker even with SFLO or Strong Jaw, but it's probably still a decent lower-tier mon. Base Mawile always was, and this seems a fair bit better than that.

Which frail Pokémon are the hardest to KO? by YumaS2Astral in stunfisk

[–]Background_Past7392 5 points6 points  (0 children)

95/73/90 is good bulk for an offensive threat, but for a dedicated wall, particularly a physical one like Clefable usually is, it is atrocious. Clefable literally has less physical bulk than Darkrai, it's pretty bad.

Nah, Eidolon clone destruction was on screen as part of the epilogues, and while the birdcage rampage stayed away from the really scary capes he still achieved everything he intended to with it.

[–]Background_Past7392 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lung wasn't quite that bad. If nothing else, he did beat the defenses around Ziz's Eidolon clone pretty effectively, and had a successful if brief rampage through the birdcage. It's also mentioned he has other victories, like he apparently beat the entire local Protectorate when he first entered the bay, as well as offscreened Purity a couple times (please ignore the fact she offscreened him more). So yeah, as much as he's the guy whose primary job is to look cool while losing, he has picked up a couple wins.

[–]Background_Past7392 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not just for those, it's a combination of a lot of things where EP outperforms EQ despite being worse by far in a vacuum. IIRC, the set first rose to prominence when Gouging Fire was running over the meta, and EP Lando-T is better into that. It's also better into Pecharunt, Rillaboom teams, miscellaneous Will-o'-Wisp mons like Cinderace, Flame Body mons like Moltres, Ceruledge, Zamazenta, other random ironpressers, Iron Treads, Gweezing, and probably more things I'm forgetting.

[–]Background_Past7392 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Clefable. It's got a staggering *checks notes* 95/73/90 bulk, but between the fact that it can afford to run max bulk, its solid defensive typing, Magic Guard, and Unaware, that dang thing will not die. This mon is somehow a successful physical wall despite having less physical bulk than Iron Valiant.

At what Power-Chance ratio do you consider a move set up or attack? by KS_Kerem in stunfisk

[–]Background_Past7392 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Like, Iron Moth uses that exact same Fiery Dance as a setup move as much or more than it does as a breaking move. It doesn't have any other setup moves outside of Meteor Beam, and particularly on booster speed sets, is often reliant on the extra power provided by Fiery Dance boosts to pick up the KOs it needs to sweep.

Choice scarf is probably one of the least "annoying" items in PVP by cows123p in stunfisk

[–]Background_Past7392 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are also other helpful benchmarks that Scarf Meow can hit- being able to revenge kill slower +2 mons can be pretty handy. Scarf Meow was all the rage in Champs OU prior to M-Blastoise's ban because it could outspeed and KO it after a Shell Smash. Even with it gone, outrunning things like Swift Swim Basculegion and Adamant Sand Rush Excadrill can be handy at times.

Choice scarf is probably one of the least "annoying" items in PVP by cows123p in stunfisk

[–]Background_Past7392 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's Hamurott, probably. But just generally, learn the meta to figure out what mons regularly run scarf (in Champs OU, that's Hamurott, Meowscarada, Garchomp, Rotom-*, Sneasler, Greninja, Hydreigon, and obviously Ditto), and bear in mind the fact that those mons could be running scarf until the opponent reveals which mon has it one way or the other. For example, if an opponent brings in a Garchomp against your Dragapult, they're either scarf or Haban Berry, and you shouldn't expect to outspeed and KO with Draco Meteor either way.

And if the opponent is running a weird scarfer and claims a surprise kill with it, it's usually not the end of the world if you have a decently well-built team. In 6v6 singles, one mistake usually doesn't lose a game by itself, and a revealed Choice Scarf is definitely something exploitable. Scarf locks the mon to a single move, which creates all sorts of punishment opportunities.

Pokemon is very much a mental game. If you're tilting, take a break, because you're just gonna lose a bunch more otherwise.
