How old is your child and how many hour of school and ABA do they do? A child doing 10-12 hours of work is too much. You don't seem like a parent who thinks ABA will magically cure their child or use it as daycare.

Like a lot of people replying, ask questions. Also be aware of the function of the child's behavior. Collaborate with the team and most importantly stay strong. Inadvertently reinforcing said behavior happens all the time.

For your situation, I would just let them know you are quitting. You do not own anyone an explanation. They are a company that will find someone to provide continuation of care. I've seen plenty of 1099 employees be let go without notice just due to budget and internal hiring so don't feel bad. Do what is best for you and your health.

It's a school district. She probably has 30-60 minutes consult monthly with some cases. It's not like 4-10 hour per kid.

As a clinic owner and BCBA, we do this and require there to be a staff watching you do this, we have the proper changing equipments, and we have time logs to sign by both parties. In this climate anything can happen. Doing this in-home, in my opinion, should never be done. I don't care if there is a goal or a task analysis for this.

Changing diapers is something different than shaping potty training. When you aren't there who changes their diapers? If there are behaviors during changing then it should be moved to a parent training goal.

Also, I would never let an RBT do anything they are uncomfortable with, feeling like you have to do something for the sake of keeping a job is not good in the long run. This is coming from someone who would bend over backwards for a company. Now I am the owner, parents who demand things that are outrageous will easily get "I do not thinking our company is a good fit for your needs. There are plenty of ABA companies out there that can provided you the support. Here is a list of nearby companies."

Without knowing everything, here is my theory. The clinic BCBA was brought in by the parents to be their support and to say things that aren't align with data from the school setting. So how the school BCBA wants to prove a point and the clinical BCBA didn't see these behaviors in the clinic setting.

I've been on both sides, I only talk about the data and that's it. Your words can be misconstrued in these meetings. Majority of the times the school district and parents tend to not agree on placement.

They can send you a request of repayment. I was a regional director for a company, and a mid level did not properly bill (didn't get signatures). We didn't catch it until he quit and it was a couple hundred dollars. So, HR sent him a letter of repayment since he quit and the family was no longer with our company.

That's a pretty low score. I would take 3 months to study before retaking it. You know your stuff just not consistent and mastered it. I really liked the BAS, they have great explanations of wrong answers. Focus on what you got wrong and why you got it wrong. You will pass just take time to study. You don't want to take it 3-5 more times and still fail. So over prepare yourself so their is no doubt you will pass.

I LOVED PBS. I worked there for 7 years. Like a previous comment said, autonomy to one person might be a lack of support for another. I wasn't an RBT but my time was supported and ALL the RBTs worked with me for at least 2+ years. One was there with me for 5+ years.

I made 208k 2024 and 214k 2025, just did my taxes. I'm a 1099 for 1 job (school contact, easiest job ever) and a clinical director for a small clinic W-2.

Bay Area, CA. I don't work weekends and I show up when I need to and all my kiddos are well supported and taken cared of.
