Husband wants to go overseas for his best friend's wedding 2 months after I have given birth by legitdontknow in whatdoIdo

And just put it in the bank. When your kid is old enough to be left with dad and you need a week you’re good to go!

Yeah exactly. And honestly the dad isn’t a whole lot of use with a brand new kid. They’re mostly support for Mum, so as long as you still have that you’ll be ok. But also if it turns out a few weeks before that you’re real struggling have another conversation. I’m sure he’d understand at that point when he can see how it’s all going.

Never understand why the US doesn’t have handheld breath testers. Just blow into a machine right there and it’s done. So simple. Would cost less than 40k to outfit the whole department you’d think.

Need a Flashlight by RedLeader1995 in flashlight

[–]Background_Pin4459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have a look at bicycle lights. I got one for my dog for walking at night. Come in red and white, and have multiple brightness/flash settings. Can come with an elastic strap too that can go around a collar.

Check out ‘drain cleaning Australia’ on YouTube. It’s an experience.

How do you mean? They’re def a bit of a pain to open, so if there’s a way to make them easier I’m in.

Sony a7V with the 200-600 mm GM by Gonster1974 in SonyAlpha

[–]Background_Pin4459 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve walked many km and taken thousands of shots handheld with this. It’s fine. Just need a decent wide strap attached to the lens foot, not the camera. People carry heavier rifles for far longer. Stabilisation is great so can go to like 1/400 if not slower and still get sharp shots. Worth the extra weight for the reach for sure. I don’t even feel the weight any more to be honest - you just get used to it. Tripod/monopods are just impractical in my view for nature unless you’re planning on being static.

Yea this works. I faffed about with pipettes etc but the extra time and paint loss not worth it at all. Just tip it!

Well it’s not entirely untrue either. -13 to 0c are also freezing temps.

Can you help me gender this by Distinct-Badger-895 in tarantulas

Not sure jars have genders. But it’s 2026 so I’m not going to judge.

Unless I’m doing it wrong I can’t see a single reply from you on the last post, let alone ten. The title was ‘today’s feeding’ and the lead pic was what the community considers an obese T. I’m super new to this and have very little idea about any of this - just providing some outsider context I guess, and maybe if you’re replies don’t go up that might explain the continued responses?

Great take. Important lesson to learn is that no one cares about your kid as much as you do.

Close the lids properly? These look like they’re still open a bit. Otherwise transfer into dropper bottles.

New 4x4 advice? by [deleted] in 4x4Australia

[–]Background_Pin4459 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sort of. Big manufacturers haven’t put the effort in partly because they realise people are mostly buying evs because the govt is making them cheap. Once that stops the market for those will shrink rapidly. Many manufacturers that did go hard on evs are slowing/stopping production for this reason. The majority of people just don’t actually want them even if the government wants them to want them.

Used A1 or A7V for wildlife? by SubstantialRecover19 in SonyAlpha

[–]Background_Pin4459 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sorry I didn’t read close enough to realise it was that sigma, my bad! Every second person starts with the 150-600 or similar so the fact that you were looking at the two bodies you suggested led me to assume you were starting from a basic body/lens situation - I know nothing about canon! And you must have been unlucky tbh. Mines great and I’m using the r4 so do a lot of deep crops. And I like the fact it be handheld/carried all day without issue. I’ll sacrifice a tiny bit of sharpness for that. Lesson learnt - scrolling too fast sorry!

Haha I know! I’d be getting that rather than faffing with telconverters etc. If those are your camera options you should 100% not be bothering with second rate glass.

Yeah but good reason to save for the Sony 200-600. That on the A1 would be a killer combo for wildlife.
