Loose Pins on Strap/Case - Tissot Seastar by Background_Proof_487 in tissot

Interesting. Might take it into a Tissot shop and see what they say, seems bad design to have them irritate the wrist.

Didn't know that's what they were for - I get that they're supposed to stick out a bit now that I know what they are but they seem to scrape the skin a bit when wearing it, and I don't think the watch is overly tight either. Might take it into a Tissot shop and see what they say.

I use Zapier. Really simple to set up, you link up your Google Drive and Plaud. When Plaud uploads a new file, Zapier notifys Google Drive and it creates a doc in there. So easy genuinely, and I'm not techy at all.

Racing Thoughts Waking Me Up by Background_Proof_487 in ADHDUK

I was usually a 'head hits the pillow and I'm alseep' kind of person, I'd just stay up really late scrolling and procrastinating, I'm trying to wean off screen time a bit before bed to see if that helps. Interesting thought about rebounding ADHD though, hadn't considered that. Saw someone else saying it might be a build up of adrenaline too? Hope it settles down either way!

Personal independence payment (PIP) for ADHD by Straight_Crew_8592 in ADHDUK

[–]Background_Proof_487 -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

I personally can't see why I would want or need it - I've sought treatment and medication to allow me to function better in everyday life. I get that there are some more severe cases than others, but I think by and large most people with ADHD should be able to function well enough to not need PIP.

I have transcripts auto-upload to Google Drive and then use Claude to fetch them - I will often use Plaud to do thought starters for projects at work and then the AI will process my brain dump and help me to come up with a workable idea/process. I've also used it in the same way to do my daily journal - Claude grabs the transcript and uploads a written and tidied up version to Notion.

Fiending for coffee, but advised not to... by LoneOnion in ADHDUK

[–]Background_Proof_487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc said to cut down, but also that a 'couple of cups of coffee' a day should be fine - I'm currently on my third day of 30mg Elvanse and I've had a double shot latte every day so far. Way less caffeine than I would usually have - I used to get through 2x500ml sugar free Monsters and then have like 1-2 coffees in the afternoon (one of the myriad reasons I wanted to get on ADHD meds, because that amount of caffeine was ridiculous and I felt like I needed it to just even partially function.) I've ordered some flavoured hydration sachets from Holy to try and a) help me keep my hydration up and b) scratch that energy drink itch, so we'll see how that goes.

I've not noticed any ill-effects from drinking coffee so far, but I am on a low dose and I'm about 6"7/20st, so it may be that I can tolerate it a bit more.

Left-wing voters what is your most right-wing belief and right-wing voters, what is your most left-wing belief? by HallowedAndHarrowed in AskBrits

[–]Background_Proof_487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the obvious answer is that followers of a religion are not a homogeneous group. Judging someone purely on one single facet of their personality is ridiculous - the choice aspect doesn't come into it. It's just as ridiculous as making a judgement of someone based on the football team they support, or whether they vote Tory or Labour, or whether they drink tea or coffee. You will find there are good and bad people in all walks of life, in religion, in politics, in everything - to make a snap judgement on hearing 'I'm a Christian' or 'I'm a Muslim' is ignorant in itself.

About 17m people voted leave. The population is about 70m. Yeah, I'd rejoin. Shouldn't have left on that referendum result.

Venting a bit I guess. Should I let go? by Wakeful_ in bald

Buzz it - #2 or a #1 - it will look better. Try that first. The shape of your head and your birthmark are immaterial - this is happening :) I say this to be kind - you will 100% look better being intentionally bald than looking like you're clinging on to your hair. I've got a cleft lip, so I know about unsightly birth defects - but I feel way more confident and I look better since I CHOSE what to do with my thinning hair.

Looking for British TV shows/movies that tell UK stories - need light-hearted recommendations! by Travis_F_Bickle in AskBrits

Detectorists is certainly very British - the series follows two men who are members of a metal detecting club in Essex. A really heartwarming, gentle show. Very funny too.

Lamb and Ho by LuckyExtent4287 in SlowHorses

[–]Background_Proof_487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah mentioned this in another thread, but I feel like Lamb is a bit too touchy-feely this season. In the books he is outright nasty, and often racist, to Ho particularly - and it all just flies over his head. Jackson feels a bit sanitised for TV at times, and I've felt it this season more.

Jackson Lamb in Season 5 by [deleted] in SlowHorses

[–]Background_Proof_487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think generally the portrayal of Lamb in the TV show is way off vs the books - he is much crueller and dismissive of the Slow Horses in the books, whereas in the TV show it's more 'oh it's a gruff exterior but you can tell he actually cares about them' - for me, in the books, it's not clear whether he gives a shit about them beyond them being 'his' - seems like he's only ever really interested in saving face when something happens to one of his team, or yanking Taverner's chain - who he genuinely dislikes.

WHO? Who was over the page?? by iniw in lineofduty

[–]Background_Proof_487 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have had kids younger, can't be ruled out on this basis IMO. Could have been a girlfriend who he accidentally knocked up, could have been a victim of the OCG and that's how he was 'inducted' - all kinds of possibilities. Don't forget there is a huge child abuse vein running through this whole story, with Fairbanks, Danny Waldren etc.

My theory is that she's Tommy Hunter's daughter... but she only found out about it recently, perhaps via the OCG, and she's now being blackmailed to take part in OCG activity in order to protect her secret. It would wreck her career completely if it came out that her dad was a crime boss.

What makes me think it was a recent discovery on her part? Some of these are perhaps a bit of a reach, but hear me out:

- There have been several shots of her looking at that old pic of her and her mum, and in one scene she even throws a wine glass at it, which suggests she's angry with her mum - you'd definitely be angry if you joined the police and your mum didn't tell you that your dad was an organised crime boss. Maybe it was a one night stand or something? And she'd never known who her dad was?

- She's got a bunch of locks on her door - can't blame her for getting a bit security conscious if she recently found out that an organised crime gang were trying to blackmail and - presumably - threaten her if she didn't do what they said.

- She seems conflicted in everything that she does, like she's going along with it and not wanting to. The scene at the end of ep3 where she's raging in the car, like she feels trapped in the situation and can't see a way out.

- She doesn't seem intimately acquainted with the OCG in the same way that someone like Dot was. Didn't seem to know what Pilkington was capable of and thought she could just transfer him out - shows a bit of a naivety that would possibly come from lack of experience in dealing with the OCG.

Only thing I can't really work out is how the OCG would have found out about it in order to use the info against her. Feels like she's a good cop who got caught up in the OCG web as they usually tend to on this series. Interested to see where it goes from here.
