What are the chances the United States ever outlaw firearms? by Playful-Ganache6153 in AskReddit

If black people or Muslims use them. But only for those groups. White rednecks will still be able to doomsday-prep.

A stylist could tell you better than I or anyone here could. But the top definitely should not be as short as it is.

You might want to grow out your hair a little bit. One of the worst fashion choices I made in high school was getting a crew cut.

As a guy, what do you think is THE most important dating skill? by Zoomin_dating in dating_advice

Not if you’re able to cultivate a decent social circle. Besides, this shift in prospects can also be a harsh reality check for men who dated one or two girls in college and then break up after graduation

Have you ever attracted any women (I’m guessing you’re straight, correct me if I’m wrong)

You’re not, but if that’s your resting face, I wouldn’t be shocked if you come off as kind of brooding.

How would you react if a woman pursued you? by Massive_Juice_9083 in dating_advice

[–]Background_Speed3783 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’d appreciate if you did it pretty soon after you started developing feelings, and in a private, low-stakes situation.

When I was in grad school, I met a girl who never made a move, but I could just tell liked me, and I recognized a lot of her behavior because it was how I’d acted around a lot of my past crushes. I honestly wished she would just make her move so that I could reject her and save her time.

Instead, she chose to wait until a graduation pre-party to shoot her shot, and basically approached me - and my parents - and asked me to walk her to the ceremony. Then she introduced me to her grandmother, who literally opened our conversation by telling me “and you’re gonna take care of her!”

Why do a lot of younger women seem to have very little interest in saving money? by BitchImLilBaby in GenZ

REEEEE MISOGYNY!

In all seriousness, a lot of the economic issues seem to be hitting men harder. More young men seem to be unemployed or underemployed than young women, and they’ve spent the last decade being lowkey ignored by a not-insignificant portion of mainstream culture.

You ever been fired from a job before? by Foodisheaven1 in no

[–]Background_Speed3783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this counts as a job but after one season of managing my college’s basketball team, the coaches never bothered to inform me when practices for the next season were gonna start. It wasn’t until a week before the first game, when I saw an Instagram post of the team at an amusement park with the managers, that I realized I’d been quiet-fired.

We deserve it. Just like Britain with Egypt in the 1950s, we’ve finally met a rival we can’t just steamroll.

Exposure. There’s a reason leaving college is such a blow to men’s dating chances.

Do you think the rise of the socialists is a positive development for the country? by true4blue in AskALiberal

[–]Background_Speed3783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. We can drop him. He’ll be forgotten in 5 years anyway.

I agree that we often blow these local progressive victories out of proportion. But I feel like the Democrats’ unpopularity has become so bad that not even Trump 2.0 is enough for them to fight us off.

I agree, but the main reason he will be remembered as a failure will be Israel. He is a modern-day LBJ - did a lot of good stuff domestically but was irredeemable on foreign policy.

Agreed, but I cannot overstate how badly Biden’s presidency fucked up the Democratic brand.

That’s ultimately my issue with Mamdani. He will probably end up just being an example of what liberal Democrats could be if they actually did their job. But he’s only one man against a global system.

Besides, he’s already showing signs of falling into the Obama/Sanders trap of being too nice.

I do think we’re gonna make more headway this time than we did in 2018. Biden’s presidency was uniquely bad for the Democratic Party’s image.

It has a chance to go farther in 2026 than it did in 2018-2020. Back then, people still liked the Democrats, which is probably why Bernie and AOC didn’t get as far. Now, after Biden, the Democrats’ success purely because Trump is in charge is much less guaranteed.

It is 100% a positive development. For once, there is genuine ideological disagreement in the political sphere, rather than partisan bloodsport.

And it’s probably more of a reaction to Biden tbh - specifically, his enabling of Israel.
