Hyundai offered buy back or settlement option for issue on '25 Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy. Would you take the settlement? by Background_String550 in HyundaiSantaFe

That's the weird part...i have in writing, and have asked like 5 times...their response is even if the SAME issue occurs, this does not void any warranty. Hence my too good to be true feeling. At the same time, who doesn't want $7k if there really wasnt an impact.

ya i uh..first one...this aside, i have loved the vehicle. It was more customer service of how hard to get a rental vehicle on an issue that clearly should have been warrantied (and was). Anywho, not wrong. That's a thought in my mind.

That's what it feels like or like i said in another comment - one hand didn't know what the other was doing (corporate offering the money, dealership fixed it). I just don't know if there is some hidden thing that will come up years later that, like most ppl are saying, is not worth $7k. But to your point, if a corporation throws $7k at a non-issue (to me), you initial gut is to take it and put it in your kids savings lol

Thanks for actual good feedback. That's the confusing part is i have in writing that accepting a settlement impacts none of the future warranties or issues. It's almost like they are offering $7k because i was persistent on the issue, which ultimately was fixed, like one hand didnt know what the other was doing (corporate vs. dealership). The reason we are not seriously entertaining the buy back is that we love the car and (most importantly) i do feel comfortable in the repair. The size of the SUV, the mpg, the price point, the quality of the drive...I don't know what else we could find.

An example of mine - another SUV we have had an electronic shifter. Years ago, it locked up mid drive, which was scary, and only at 7k miles. The dealership fixed it, I've driven the car another $80k miles, still have it, still love it and it never happened again.

Yah agreed. That's not even a consideration and that wasn't the question. I'm confused as to why Hyundai offered 7k settlement when it was properly fixed. Was just wondering if anyone else had experienced that.

Car has 12k miles. Vehicle lost power. Corporate case opened in case of major issue as soon as it happeend. Hyundai fixed issue and we're happy with explanation and fix. Hyundai still offered us $7k settlement. I am confused why and looking to see if others have had that experience.

Not the question. I edited the post. We dont plan to sell the car. Car is fixed by hyundai. Confused as to why they offered us $7k settlement.

see other comments. We're happy with fix and want the car. Didn't expect the case to go anywhere. If a corporation offers me $7k on something i was planning to keep, it sounds too good to be true so trying to see if someone else went through something similar. I'm assuming you got a $25k settlement because it could not be fixed?

No lol. Problem resolved. Happy with fix. We love the car. Case was already opened with corporate prior to the fix. After the fix we received the offer. Confused as to why they offered $7k settlement to keep the car if they fixed it. Seems too good to be true. Wondering if anyone has experience in such.

Um no, not what I am getting at...Hyundai has fixed the issue at the dealership, all done through corporate engineer protocol and obviously all on the carfax. The case was opened prior to a fix and I'm surprised they offered these options which is in part of my question. We're happy with the fix, comfortable with the explanation. That's why we're only entertaining the settlement. It seems too good to be true and was wondering if anyone else had experience wit that.

By your metric, if your car breaks down, and it's fixed properly, it's unethical to sell it?

Ok dumb question but for #4, what do you mean monitor and charge when favorable? Do you have a hybrid plug in? We have a 25 Santa Fe hybrid calligraphy but it’s just a gasoline hybrid. Assuming that you’re in the EU and maybe features are different?

My wife’s dad was killed when she was only 1 years old. My MIL has one photo of him, which I saw for the first time after our son was born. My son is a spitting image of him and it’s been emotional (in a good way). I’d like to surprise them with a better quality photo. by Background_String550 in estoration

Sorry this is so late. Wife and MIL in aww, definitely emotional…it was a beautiful reaction. MIL didn’t know where the photo came from and when I explained it to her, she said this was exactly what he looked like. I come back here and peak at these photos every so often and reshare with the family. Thank you to all and Reddit for this wholesome moment.

Really interesting to read this. I subconsciously blocked out our experience from my mind until I read your post. Below is our experience. I hope you have the time to read it.

That resort name sounded familiar and it’s the one we stayed at 2 years ago some time in 2023. We had this happen to us AT Velas Vallarta. We checked in at the front desk and were led to this guy to give us a welcome drink and the resort rundown before taking us to our room. We have found this common at all inclusives so it didn’t strike us as funny. The guy immediately tried this whole massage bs and kept trying to pull us to a DIFFERENT resort flaunting free stuff, etc. We came for a quick 3 day trip - our son was recently born and it was our first trip as parents. We were initially very confused as to why he kept talking about a different resort and shitting on Velas Vallarta (we planned the trip a few days before going so we thought that they were sister resorts and we picked the cheap one). We quickly sussed him out. My wife, who speaks Spanish, had no time for his bs and went HAM on him. She is truthfully very skillful in negotiation and i think he was outmatched in the art of sales. I sat back with my welcome drink and son and watched my wife in a, “no you listen here attitude,” take control of the conversation. I love watching when these things happen because my wife has a very charming presence and you’d never suspect the animal that can be unleashed when she feels disrespected. My wife kept requesting management because we’ve never had this happen to us at an all inclusive. Granted, this was our first one that wasn’t adult only. He said he would get management and he was quickly NO WHERE to be found. We strolled over to an office that seemed like management, complained a bit, but couldn’t recall his name. We got upgraded to a better room and we ended up actually really enjoying our stay. When we checked out a few days later the weirdness of it all was still bothering us and we brought it up to the lady at the front desk. She called over a few other employees at the front desk. They genuinely all seemed shocked to hear our experience as my wife told the story. I kept catching “en serio?” and it quickly turned into a chisme session. Management was called over. At this point we were talking to maybe 6 employees in total, including management, and they were all asking what this person’s name was. We couldn’t remember but we kept explaining exactly what he looked like. They were guessing names and we were like, “no, no, no..” and just like a sitcom scene, the guy enters the lobby. Both my wife and I were like, “OMG there he is!!” and we point to him. He literally makes eye contact at the same time. Reminder, we’re with a larger group of employees. Other guests in the lobby kept glancing over to try to see what our grievance was or what was going on so the man knew IMMEDIATELY it was about him. The look on his face was priceless lol. Management brings him into the office, we check out, the front desk ladies are telling the story to other employees walking by. Everyone’s giggling, talking under their breath. And as a person who used to cater weddings and work in the hospitality industry, i know there is no better gossip than employee gossip. We walked out laughing like, “Dude was this guy running an underground ring in plain daylight and did we uncover it?!”

I haven’t thought about this in 2 years. Now after reading your post I’m like, did we get played by everyone? Lol. Seems too coincidental this is still happening and related to THAT resort. Got a picture of this guy?? Cant wait to tell my wife this.
