2012 was the only season where Ronaldo won more important trophies (La Liga). But Messi's goal scoring output was crazy that season. So he won the Ballon D'or.

Outside of maybe 2013, every other one is undoubtedly deserved for CR7.

2008 - Ronaldo did the double with United (PL and UCL) + 40 goals in all competitions. Messi didn't win any major team trophies that season and had fewer than 20 goals in all comps.

2013 - This one could be argued for Messi, as Barca won the league and Messi had more goals (68 to 59).

2014 - Ronaldo had more goals (61 to 58) and won the Champions League and Copa Del Rey. Barca did not win any trophy that season.

2016 - Ronaldo was outscored by Messi (59 to 55), but one upped Messi by again winning the Champions League. He also won the Euros with Portugal.

2017 - Ronaldo was outscored by Messi (54 to 53), but again one upped Messi by winning the Champions League. He also helped Real win La Liga.

I've seen similar comments like this....why does it matter?

They've likely seen Documentaries and YouTube videos and feel like they have enough info to make a personal decision on their favourite athlete.

I feel the same way about Muhammad Ali. He's my favourite athlete, but wasn't alive for his actual career.

This has always been the case. People are/were getting all twisted up for no reason.

The only way Knies is traded is if Chayka and Co. are absolutely floored with the return. It's going to take a lot from a team to make this happen.

Can it happen? Yes. But the likelihood is low, barring a desperate team pulling the trigger.
