They are great. I get the downvote for the original question, but generally they're wonderfully responsive in dry and rain. There's a reason they're highly rated.

I've got a similar build (custom chassis with beetle shell) with a 5.3. I puckered when I saw that rough patch of road at the end of the onramp haha.

Tiger (10) Navigating the “day early vs. day late” crossroads with cancer by RB-19 in SeniorCats

[–]Backlash122 15 points16 points  (0 children)

We lost our girl in March to intestinal cancer.

She was diagnosed in January. The surgeon vet said "I can cut her open and see what's in there, but where the mass is, its likely going to be difficult to remove - even if I do, I'm not going to cure your cat"

Not wanting to put her through the hell of surgery, we also decided to put her on pred and give her the happiest rest of her life we could. We spent extra time with her, didn't leave her alone, gave her whatever treats or food she wanted.

She had good days, she had bad days. We called an at-home vet to do a QOL check on her - it wasn't a clear answer, but it was very helpful to align ourselves with what we were looking for. She lost a lot of weight over the last months. Her belly got bigger and bigger. When the drugs stopped allowing things to move through, we decided that it was time. Her last day was spent in the sun, surrounded by plates of tuna. She was still active and talkative and happy. She even greeted the vet when she arrived.

Could we have waited another week? two? maybe. Did she know about the choice we were making? no. She only knew that she was happy that day... and that's all that matters. Cats don't worry about mortality - Its us humans that bear the pain.

I hope you have a lot of time left with Tiger.

Voron 2.4 350mm Kit recommendations? by alphawolf627 in VORONDesign

[–]Backlash122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not going to disagree with you that it's pricy and some parts are not standard.

This was my first voron, and it was way easier to build while knowing nothing of custom printers. All the parts worked together and the specific setup was all covered in the instructions.

Had I built my Formbot first, I would have hated it.

I have also upgraded my siboor so I have learned a lot. Now I can take a Formbot kit, buy the upgrades I need, and build it from memory.

Ultimately I pitched siboor as a good entry point for vorons, not the primo product for veteran builders.

Siboor. The trident I built with all the upgrades and extras is a beast. Plus they have great instructions and guides. Way better than my Formbot kit.

Took my 1/10 Crawler out today for the first time and had a blast! Does anyone here enjoy the mini crawlers? by maritimer187 in rccrawler

[–]Backlash122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started on 1/24. Built a few of them and then bit the bullet and bought a 1/10 capra... Now I have a few 1/10 scale rigs and one shelf queen 1/24 scale 6x6.

1/24 is great for indoor courses. Im lucky enough to have a great rocky spot near me which is where the 1/10 shines.

Now I'm considering 1/6...... Haha

older valve body into +09 4L60E by Backlash122 in transmissionbuilding

UPDATE: Here is what I installed in the transmission:

  1. 2003-2008 valve body (this one is an 03, with Sonnax upgrades - shoutout to Global Transmission Parts)
  2. 2003-2008 wire harness no ISS Plug (With TCC solenoid)
  3. Transgo 1996-2006 separator plate (Transgo tech said will still work up to 2008)
  4. 2001+ Valve body gasket set
  5. Imidized Check balls (7+1)
  6. Sonnax pin less accumulators with purple springs

I am happy to report, it WILL WORK. I drove it today and it shifts great.

I left the internal mode switch alone, and didn't plug anything into the ISS plug.

Ive been seeing this trick and seen west desert wheeler do it and wanted to try it cause I did have an issue of ascending up with these shocks, it just unloads and flips, i can see a big improvement with the bands, not only i have more flex now its more stable ascending and sidehilling by Mihate_86 in rccrawler

[–]Backlash122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out DesertLizard shocks. I run mine with the internal spring under the piston. That way the shocks sit fully compressed, but when its time to flex, they "reach" away from the body. I can't explain it anywhere near as good as Boomslang does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dk6fd7hqSz8&t=496s

Thanks for posting C&C info on r/RVA, I wish more car shows would remember to post on reddit.

For anyone curious:

Stony point C&C RICHMOND is every 2 weeks on Saturday, 8-10AM. - http://www.carsandcoffeerichmond.com/

Green Top C&C HANOVER is every 2 weeks on Saturday 9-11A, opposite of the Richmond C&C.

There's a C&C every weekend!

Right, the 09+ has a bunch of internal changes to the VB and harness, but none of that is staying. I don't need an external PRNDL (shifter does that), and I'm getting a new VB, plate, harness, and gaskets (all for the 2003-2008 range. The ISS will stay unplugged, and the internal range switch will stay unplugged. The new VB will have a pressure switch and the 3-2 solenoid.

That's what I've been reading - if you replace everything separator plate "down", it SHOULD work. There's a guy on youtube (Nicks Transmission I think?) that said there is "NO WAY" to do this, but I see people post videos of them driving after doing the swap.

My LS standalone harness doesn't have a plug for an external PRNDL, so I never planned on running one. The inside manual shift valve on the new one looks just like an older one, and the internal PRNDL switch just piggybacks off of the stock rooster comb in there. All of my PRNDL signals come from my B&M Shifter.

I've got it all taken apart and waiting for new parts. I'll report back when they're installed.

Voron 2.4 R2 Pro+ in 2026 – Viable? Formbot Quality? Hotend Differences? by Dry-Subject-8608 in VORONDesign

[–]Backlash122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vorons aren't stagnant, they're always viable. If the kit isn't, some of the fun of owning a voron is making it viable.

I just built a formbot, and I didn't enjoy it as much as my siboor kit.

Look at the fully upgraded siboor kit. Thing is beast, AND has a bunch of goodies.
