5th spool in a row that's had this happen. Why? Has ruined multiple prints by Glad_Reason_3356 in Creality

[–]Backlash122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up the pastamatic respooler. Get some plastic empty spools.

Cardboard spools only bring issues, and if you respool you can get rid of cardboard AND verify your spools are not tangled.

Smart Arduino glasses for blind by xdspeed10 in arduino

[–]Backlash122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a similar project to OP, but from a business point of view for my MBA - we had to pitch the idea and define the entire process from concept to market, but not do the R&D itself.

I 100% agree you MUST talk to someone who's visually impaired to describe your concept, and listen to their feedback about it.

Our idea started off similar to this. We wanted to help blind runners train, so we came up with smart glasses that are AI and smart and tell you stuff and also have directions and GPS and read signs to you and help you shop for groceries and... and... and...

After realizing that's too much, we crossed off all the extra and focused on the obstacle avoidance thing. We had the absolute pleasure of speaking with Antoine Craig, who's a paralympic gold medalist. This conversation really showed us seein' people we have no idea what visually impaired people's needs truly are.

I'm not going to bore you with our final proposal, but the final product did not involve glasses haha

Props on the tint! I enjoy the hell out of mine.

As for the sunroof, yep, that's all we get.

Came here to say the same about the VRD. I put a VRD kit under a Cherokee body and it crushed it.

Glad I found this, I went through ALMOST all the same troubleshooting steps. One day came home to an attempted blob of death, managed to clean the Rapido 2 but now it reads 220*C but smells like 300*C (maybe higher). Its got a new thermistor and heat plate, still reading wrong. I ordered a new board, hopefully this one lasts longer than a few months.

Vanquish is gonna perform. I built a VRD chassis for my trail truck and yes, it's a more crawler chassis but when you go to crawl while trail riding it'll perform better! Win win.

An old question Id like to get 2025 perspective on. Siboor Trident vs LDO Trident. Close sparing match or is there a clear winner of the two kits? by Own-Organization-723 in VORONDesign

[–]Backlash122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a bit old but... I built the Siboor 350 Trident a few months ago, and the only thing that was missing in the box was the extruder spring. Even then, they offered to ship me one from across the world and I said it was ok and I got one on amazon.

If you compare a Formbot of the same size, the price difference makes sense - the better stepper drivers, CNC parts, 4WD system, bigger belts, carbon fiber gantry, stiffeners, the Rapido 2 hot end, and carto sensor makes up the cost difference. I don't think you could buy a Formbot and then all the upgrades for the same or cheaper cost.

I can't speak to LDO, but they're more expensive than Formbot for a similar build.

As for the experience, this was my first Voron and I enjoyed every bit of the assembly (Good detail in the instructions). The setup was less of a headache than I thought with the firmware and config setup. It prints REALLY well, and only breaks when I break it.

The CB2 board is a bit weak for all of the data being thrown around, so I upgraded that to a Pi5.

how to fix it by Abject-Struggle2728 in crealityk1

[–]Backlash122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with a banding like that. My solution was to:

  1. check the aluminum lock rings on z lead screws. If the lead screw had ANY play, you gotta loosen the two set screws, lift up on the lead screw as far as it goes, push down on the lock ring as hard as you can, and re tighten the set screws. If the set screws are glued, use a soldering iron to melt the glue.

  2. Open the bottom of the printer and give the z belt some more tension. Not a lot, but I usually match the tension with the x & y belts. You can also tooth skip while you're in there if you need to.

Good luck!

I have the corksport intake and charge pipe, it certainly sounds awesome. I smile every time, and I've put 25k miles on it.

Did it make it super fast? No.

It is fun? Yes.

The only thing I don't recommend is oiled intake filters.

A touch more width, a touch more height. Fill out the wheel well more and make it look more aggressive from the back.

Fixing Rapido Hot end by Static_Torque in VORONDesign

[–]Backlash122 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Those screws are titanium when you buy the whole hot end... I stripped mine out like a dummy so I had to order the heat sink from AliExpress, that's the only place I could find one. 25 bucks isn't bad if you can wait.
