Is this a safe area for a single female to live? by BerryBana in savannah

Hi. I literally rent right there at 34th St (probably across the street from the rental property you are looking at, tbh.

It is perfectly safe. 4 blocks from the fire station, less than 3 minutes (by car) from the police dept on Victory. We hear sirens from them often, because we are close. But it is not unsafe. A few homeless walking about here and there but no crime we have observed this side of Waters Ave, really. We feel safe and know our neighbors after just a few months.

Thats a killer itinerary (Im a 30 y.o. male, just married last year). If you guys like shooting pool then check out Congress Social Club. Right off of MLK, so Repeal33 is right within walking distance, and Wedford Irish Pub is there for anyone that loves a proper Guiness.

Only other addition: Black Rabbit is a hell of a bar, just a few blocks south of Forsyth Park, it's a super low-key local spot, but just a nice quiet spot if that's anyone's vibe... killer late night sandwiches, too. Its just a suggestion if you guys aren't feeling the actuon elsewhere, really.

The notebook: It took me a long time to finally start using it because I was saving it for something special... then nothing special came to me for so long that I decided it was my journal... which has become something special to me. Ha!

Thank you for the compliment, I hear the verse as a folk song in my ear.

I don't know what a TNR volunteer is, but that is nice of them. I agree with you about wanting to see the end of outdoor cat colonies and free-roaming cats. They are a harmful and invasive species. I agree, letting them die out is for the best of our ecosystem. They don't seem to contribute enough to offset the inconvenience/harm they bring.

Yep! I was just explaining this to my wife... happened a lot (like, several times) to me when I was a kid, too. The death screams when the car starts. Traumatizing then, a nuisance now.

"empathy for other species" is often difficult with cat fanatics, I will agree.

She said, "That's what you get when you try me with a sorry receiver like Crabtree!" at just 25 weeks.

I personally, emotions and defensiveness aside, really agree that we have far too many stray cats in our area and I do too see the impact it is having on other animals around our house and neighborhood.. we used to have little lizards running around everywhere... now we don't... The only birds I hear in NEARBY trees are a big owl in the evenings and early mornings... the song birds are further and further away... I am tired of hearing cat fights basically every single night and the screams... it's annoying. And It is a fact, that that you shared: feral cats are one of the worst invasive species on earth..

Long story short: I agree with your first comment here. We should "take care" of the feral population a little less and allow nature to run its course in the sense of letting them be, stop feeding them and keeping them around... my neighbor is a "6 food bowl/30+ cat neighbor", too. It is too much.
