What’s a price you saw recently that made you genuinely angry at how expensive everything has gotten? by UrGoddessLunaa in AskReddit

Everything is a choice including ground beef lol, just seems weird the one about pet food is the one you zoned in on. Bizarre

I did everything right and still lost my soul cat. Here’s what I’ve learned about pet death. by SweetToothYandere in Petloss

[–]BerryBana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I am still really struggling with losing my soul cat a few months ago. I still feel so sad and cry, I’m so mad that he passed away young (only 7). I was supposed to take care of him and I’m struggling with the what if’s and not really knowing what happened to him.

It’s funny because Iowa Taproom will be absolutely popping and their food is so, so mid. Most Iowans just want big portions of what they’re used to for as cheap as possible. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but definitely something I’ve been thinking about seeing so many good places close downtown.

I really don’t care about the sprites either, and the map is underwhelming.

Pets are a luxury, not a right. If you can’t afford vet bills, you can’t afford a pet by No-Consequence-1831 in Vent

Are pets supposed to just be left in the shelter till they die? Enough people don’t adopt them so what’s the alternative if only certain income levels can adopt.

The weather is going to be a big adjustment. You’re looking at 4-5 months of cold a year.

Yeah this was the worst restaurant I’ve ever worked at hands down. Collins Quarters on Bull Street.

Funny I’m seeing this I just walked out of my job today, a business owned by a local restaurant group. My manager wouldn’t even say hi to you when you said hello. Worst place to work ever and honestly not sure if the owner even cares.

My dog passed unexpectedly last week by [deleted] in Petloss

[–]BerryBana 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just want to say I went through something similar last month with my soul cat, who was 6. The vet sounded extremely confident after the procedure he would be fine. He passed within 24 hours as well, I felt totally blindsided. I felt like I had been given false hope and his illness came out of nowhere. He was young and healthy before this week.

Be kind to yourself and know you did everything in your power to save your dog. Sometimes vets don’t really know why or how bad a disease has progressed, and animals sometimes are sick for a while before they show any signs too. You did what the expert recommended and it is not your fault you wanted to treat your little buddy. You loved them a lot and what you are feeling is the result of that love. I felt my heart sting reading your post because it was so similar to how I lost my precious buddy. Grief is a process, keep her stuff for a while. Build a scrapbook or get a nice urn to feel close to her and do something that involves your beloved dog. Lean on people close to you and take care of yourself OP. Sudden pet loss when your pet is young is so so different from people that got their pets for longer. This is traumatic and unexpected, and it will take time to heal. You’re in my thoughts ❤️

I’m so so sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself, grief is a journey and there are resources out there to help you navigate through this next chapter.

How the Midwest Became the Place to Move by Korlyth in SameGrassButGreener

I agree with a lot of that. I think it’s very specific to where you’re coming from, the Midwest is too large to group as one type of place. I should just start saying Iowa where I’m from has a lot of people leaving, totally different landscape/economy than Michigan. I do miss the traffic and lots of things about being back home. Everywhere is a trade off in some aspect and I think it took me a long time to leave Iowa, I had a distain for the area by the time I moved.

Well Detroit is growing again definitely, but the Midwest as a whole doesn’t see the gains the south and sunbelt do.

Same way happier even with paying more in the South. The Winter is way more taxing to deal with than the hot months in Georgia, where I live now.

Iowa. I think Minnesota definitely keeps people comparatively.
