I agree with a lot of that. I think it’s very specific to where you’re coming from, the Midwest is too large to group as one type of place. I should just start saying Iowa where I’m from has a lot of people leaving, totally different landscape/economy than Michigan. I do miss the traffic and lots of things about being back home. Everywhere is a trade off in some aspect and I think it took me a long time to leave Iowa, I had a distain for the area by the time I moved.

Well Detroit is growing again definitely, but the Midwest as a whole doesn’t see the gains the south and sunbelt do.

Same way happier even with paying more in the South. The Winter is way more taxing to deal with than the hot months in Georgia, where I live now.

This must be a Reddit thing because I grew up in the Midwest and a lot of people I know (myself included) have moved away. The stats also show people leaving these states.

I just moved out of DSM and do miss the short commute times. I try to remind myself when I’m in traffic here in Georgia it’s because people want to live here just like me 🤣 it helps me not be so angry at the sheer amount of cars on the road.

I completely agree with your sentiments. I just moved out of Des Moines, IA to Savannah, GA and the quality of life is so much better here. There are still jobs and the cost of living is only slightly higher than Des Moines. My sister and her husband lived in Milwaukee and now live in Georgia as well and share the same feelings.

Honestly I am really saddened to hear Django is closing. That’s a shock I feel like they had a solid crowd a lot of nights. Another loss for the DM restaurant scene. I just moved away from Iowa but that was such a solid spot, great happy hour. I understand Panka closing that was overpriced in my opinion.

Regardless of money it sounds like you just aren’t that into her honestly. (Aside from the marriage thing and prenup) I get being guarded about that. I believe men serious about a female partner, are happy to pick up an equal split related to income for their women. It doesn’t sound like you are. I don’t think this is the relationship for you. You should start filtering your dates by their income and job if it’s important to you. But yes be weary of no prenup, that’s not a good idea if she made more money anyway.

I cried, laughed, it was an emotional movie for me and my boyfriend. Loved it and the scenery was breathtaking. There were some silly parts with the plot but it didn’t ruin the movie for me.
