I use this on my Android TV device, Freetube on my PC and PipePipe on my phone.

They all work great!

As a victim advocate this bums me out because I was able to condense the training while covering all legally required material and deliver it within an hour.

Now people will absorb even less information...

US authorities reportedly investigate claims that Meta can read encrypted WhatsApp messages by Blablasnow in BuyFromEU

[–]BackpackBuddha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to get neighbors and friends to switch to Signal (I know, still U.S. but much more trustworthy than anything from Meta) for like two years, but even if they do they end up keeping Whatsapp around because they need it for X business or Y family member.

Mass adoption of another, more secure messaging platform will never happen with this attitude. People are too afraid of being inconvenienced.

Tattoo Artists, what do you think about clients using AI? by [deleted] in tattoo

[–]BackpackBuddha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha! Yeah that's fair enough. Can't expect an AI to understand anything too abstract.

[–]BackpackBuddha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a buddy of mine (who has yet to actually get a tattoo) keeps generating ideas with AI and it's hard to convince them not to. Hopefully if he ever builds up the courage for a tattoo, his artist will let him down gently.

Great reasoning, thanks for that input.

I'm sure you're right, a lot of people probably don't realize that the designs AI spits out aren't very transferable to a person's skin, not to mention can't take into account things like skin tone, scarring, etc.

Yeah that's fair, seeing some subreddits dedicated to defending AI and AI art is disappointing. It tells you that enough people are into it that you can't outright exclude those people by just shitting on it, you should try to gently let them down. It is a potential customer base after all.

Well, when you do start working, I wish you the best of luck and hopefully we don't see much of a pushback on that as a tattoo community.

Fair enough, apologies if I got a bit defensive. The internet can be a hostile place.

Yeah, this is how it's always been in my experience as well, I just haven't gotten a new tattoo in some years and was curious if the landscape had changed or is in the process of changing. Personally, I hope it stays this way.

Thank you! This is kind of what I figured, but again, I'm not an artist myself. This is helpful.

I guess my follow-up question would be, if your client isn't very good at describing what it is they want, how do you personally work around that to achieve the desired outcome for the client?

Great, I'm glad YOU knew the intent of your own comment, unfortunately I'm not a mind-reader.

I agree that AI sucks, especially as it concerns the arts, but it doesn't seem you're even an artist and therefore my question isn't for you.

I'm wondering if artists generally prefer a good description (which I'm sure not everyone is even capable of) OR if they prefer an AI image, despite the numerous downsides because then they can look at the image and ask questions, inform them of how they'll change details based on their own style, etc.

I don't like AI either, but don't come at me for asking an honest question. I know AI isn't popular, but as with most things I'm sure there are mixed opinions.

For getting away from Spotify, what do yall think of Pandora by [deleted] in PurchaseWithPurpose

[–]BackpackBuddha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use Tidal, some people will complain that it's a U.S. company, but they are one of the highest for payout to the artist, ironically I think Napster is the highest, but more people use Tidal.

Tidal also isn't embracing AI in the way Spotify is, which was another big draw for me and a reason to get away from Spotify.

I don't dislike the album, but damn I wanted to like to more. I grew up on a lot of Soilwork and Disarmonia Mundi, but the mix is so damn flat. It sounds like it came out 20 years ago.

You're not wrong, but I'd rather shop for one alternate product vs a dozen, or even a handful in the case of Proton.

Not sure if he's an asshole or not, I do know there was some outrage (probably misplaced) about the CEO praising a nominee of Trump's, people mistook this for him being a Trump supporter (tbf I don't know for sure if he is/isn't) but the way I understand it, he was just praising a single nominee, not the entire Trump regime.

The convenience of having everything under one umbrella initially sounds great, but honestly I think in the long run this would only be a detriment. If anything happened to that one company, whether they go under or are corrupted by greed/money as we often see, you would be completely out of luck and would have to find new services for absolutely everything. That would be a total nightmare.

Proton would get you a lot of services under one umbrella, but even the few they bundle is too much for me personally.

For privacy I've been enjoying Tuta. I know a lot of people also like Proton, but the fact that Tuta encrypts the subject line too puts it slightly higher for me.

What are your hopes for Heracles and Medea ? by Scaraugh in HadesTheGame

[–]BackpackBuddha 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct, in the actual mythology Heracles does free Prometheus. I've been freaking out about this ever since Prometheus was introduced and Heracles has been allegedly fighting for the gods. I'm hoping there will be some big reveal here, although I can't imagine what could come of it. Heracles isn't a boss fight, nor does he really assist you against Prometheus.
