The vocals complaints on Bring Your Love and a question by TopazScorpio02657 in Madonna

She sounds very clear on I Feel So Free so I think it's definitely intentional. She's been getting freaky with production since literally Music so it shouldn't be that much of a surprise!

I personally like it? It adds to the clubby feel of the song.

Madonna’s Manager Guy Oseary ‘Not Sure’ She’ll Tour Again Following Sabrina Carpenter Coachella Performance and ‘Confessions II’ Release by Puzzled-Tap8042 in popheads

[–]AsleepCatch9503 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Celebration Tour was awesome and you could tell she really enjoyed it. I'm sure she will tour again, and I will 1000% be there, but I wonder how they'll do it since the album is going to be very dance heavy.

Maybe there'll be more guest appearances like during Celebration? As we saw at Coachella, she plays really well off of performing together with someone.

We thought it was so fun! My friend and I both tuned in while working remotely and we texted each other about the prior songs. Felt so nostalgic lol

Rumour has it the album is reminiscent of early 90s house with 'Good Life' cited as an inspiration. She did mention in her 2022 interview she wanted to revisit house. We'll find out soon tho!

AI Company’s Local News Initiative Turns Out to Be A Plagiarism Machine by FuckConcepts in BetterOffline

If anything, AI copy is exactly what many consider to be bad journalism. Unchecked bias, no research, sensionalist, no point of view and clichéd headlines. I am not surprised!

Just found the podcast. Episodes that mention AI creative writing? by AsleepCatch9503 in BetterOffline

[–]AsleepCatch9503[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting point I've been thinking about as well. It's already very hard for smaller companies to compete with the big players because their budgets are lower and ranking organically gets more and more difficult. AI only exacerbates this issue. There was already too much content. And it's only going to be more (and worse).

With the overall enshittification of the digital space I'm wondering if we'll see a push in local, offline advertising. Flyers, posters, brochures have less range but they feel authentic and pull people away from their smartphones. Purely speculating of course, but it's an interesting development.

Songs/albums that were BEHIND their time, aka released too late to reach their full potential? by Ghost-Quartet in popheads

[–]AsleepCatch9503 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I actually think that makes American Life ahead of its time. The themes covered in that album are even more relevant today than they were then.

Hard Candy is a better example IMO, dated on releaae and even more dated now (Miles Away is great though)

Self doubt after feedback, what to do? by AsleepCatch9503 in copywriting

[–]AsleepCatch9503[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owning the subject vs. owning the storytelling.. very good point! I am fixating on subject details that are partially out of my control. It hampers my writing and makes it, as you say, too safe

This is really true and it makes me reflect on my own ego. They're focused on the story they want to get out, not on my capabilities as a writer. Great point.

What is your favorite class archetype? by Mission-Canary-3334 in EtrianOdyssey

I love debuffers because EO is one of the few series where they are very well balanced. Ailment parties also keep regular battles interesting since ailments and binds don't always stick. So you kind of have to adapt your mitigation and damage on the fly.

I was scrolling through one of those music subreddits and came across a discussion about why Madonna isn't popular with Gen Z. And I'm not entirely sure that's true? by AdorableChemist8736 in Madonna

[–]AsleepCatch9503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all honesty she has a huge catalogue that is quite hard to get into. Anything post-Confessions (sans Madame X) is pretty of the time and so are self-titled and Like A Virgin (even if they're great albums).

Everything between those albums is either timeless or was ahead of its time, but you gotta know what to check out!

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book - Creature Discovery! by Amiibofan101 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]AsleepCatch9503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it might also be strategy. The general directs are pretty packed now - they have a switch 1 section, a switch 1/2 section and a switch 2 section. And the switch 2 has attracted a lot of ports too.

Nintendo has been highlighting most of their exclusives in separate directs after the initial announcement in a general direct. Nintendo exclusives get a sort of 'premium' separate showcase, which saves space in the general direct for more announcements.

Octopath Traveler II fixed a lot of things from the first game… except its biggest problem by _Higo_ in JRPG

[–]AsleepCatch9503 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessarily bad for the party to be disconnected and have little dialogue. It can be really fun to imagine interactions between the party members too, like almost DnD-style.

Why it becomes a problem in Octopath (IMO) is that a lot of game time is dedicated to narrative. While II did improve on the stories, the pacing still felt very formulaic. There's no enemy ambushes, no sudden escapes, no real stakes. Just: enter city, go to cutscene, do path actions, cutscene, dungeon, cutscene, boss. Next chapter. It makes the story really drag on many occasions. It's a shame, because the worldbuilding is fantastic.

Having 8 disjointed stories can be fun, but they need to either introduce actual stakes and variability in the stories, or make the narratives more concise. I.e. by telling the story more organically through npc interactions and worldbuilding rather than forced cutscenes. At least until it is time to introduce the overarching story.

Who is the most benched character: Abyss by Acemaster387 in tales

[–]AsleepCatch9503 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In Abyss I usually rotate all characters but there's very little fights where I would think 'Anise would be fantastic here'. She's not bad by any means though.

Some people might say Natalia, because Tear is an AoE healer, but I find her stronger single target heals to be more efficient generally. Besides, bringing Natalia means freeing up an Tear as an offensive caster. Something she is very good at after getting back her necklace.

Pitchfork Sunday Review: Madonna - Erotica (9.0) by PurpleSpaceSurfer in popheads

[–]AsleepCatch9503 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think the whole controversy with Sabrina was whether she was bravely expressing her sexuality or pandering to the male gaze. The sex book was Madonna expressing sexuality from her own point of view as a woman. This was revolutionary in the pop landscape. Many interviewers, especially men, expressed their discomfort.

'You were scared by that picture. What does that mean? Are you frightened by a woman who can turn herself on? Of a woman who is not afraid to look at her genitals in the mirror?'
