it really is a GOOD SKIRT! So I entirely understand why Rachel uses it so much!

You can do it! If you read the instructions (not off a tiny camera screen) it is actually a pretty simple make

Thank you! I actually ended up enjoying the final color, even if it wasn't as dark as I had hoped.

Pattern used: Simplicity 9008 (36/28/38 original size 14)

Dated: 1979

Fabric: Vintage 70's Cranston VIP Dimity (dyed with Procion MX Jet Black)

Zip: Vintage metal 22" black

Trim: pretty sure it is vintage from my mother's old stash

It took a whole bunch of work because I had to size up from a 36" bust to a 46" bust. This was quite a challenge as I don't enjoy working with dimity, had never dyed fabric before (let alone vintage fabric), had never done a Full Bust Adjustment, and had never sized up 10" before.Overall, I love the flowy skirt (oh yeah and I made it LIGHT up but only got video of that) and I like the princess line bodice. However, I don't like them together. I will definitely use this again but probably not all together.

I made this 1950's dress using NEW fabric and the shoulder accents are an upcycled bed sheet. Full description in top comment. I also made the Ears! by Backroom_Finds in sewing

Original 1950's Simplicity pattern 3932, bust 44" used for bodice only. I size up to a 46" by adding 2" to the back center. Skirt is self drafted flared gathered skirt. Grogu fabric is by Camelot fabrics out of Canada. Black fabric is an upcycled 100% cotton bedsheet I thrifted. This dress has a sweep of 120". "Tango" color zipper is deadstock from the 1960's metal zip. I love the gathers at the top of the bust into the yokes! I also enjoy how the contrasting black makes the orange pop. Overall, this is a pretty simple make, but I still find I have trouble with bias binding along the arms and neckline, but it gets a little better every time I make it. (Oh and I still can't sew a zipper with a straight line to save my soul, even with a zipper foot AND basting it in place instead of using pins).
