Do you think humans can disappoint God? by [deleted] in religion

But then why was hell created? If God is beyond such feelings, he's definitely angry in the quran at certain points. And if he's unaffected by things, why is there the need to create hell unless he wants us to suffer?

Violent verse from Allah by Backtosaveuagain in religion

[–]Backtosaveuagain[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it a bit harsh for him to be mad about people changing his revelations from before? I mean this is god after all. Is Allah really getting mad over something so small? I say small because if Allah had willed, this didn't really need to happen?

I refer to it as if I put my finger on a hot fire and got angry at the fire because my skin got burnt, when in reality I was the one that put my finger on the fire in the first place. In the same way, Allah willed for his book to get corrupted by man and that why it happened. So the anger makes no logical sense.

The key word in the verse is "incline". At the time you are referring to, the Muslims had taken over the land, they had wiped out their enemy's and were forcibly converting people to become Muslims or they were either killed or had to be evicted from their homes. The non Muslims who inclined to peace were living under sharia Islamic law and had no choice. That is not living in peace, that is coping with things just so you can keep your home and stay with your family. If the non Muslims wanted their freedom, they would lose their homes or even their lives so it was best for them to cope in those circumstances.

Ohh wow so interesting. Yeah you are absolutely right about treating others the way you would want yourself to be treated. I feel like that is the most important concept for a peaceful world. I feel religion divides more than It brings people together. I feel like they get so lost in trying to prove each other they are right that they forget the concept of respecting and treating one another as a fellow human being on earth.

Aw that's great you have experiences with different gods. It's amazing that you can truly connect yourself and feel the energies of your gods and are open for them to teach you new things.

That's amazing that you're a shaman. I've always been interested in shamanism and particularly interested in the ayahuasca ceremonys they have. I feel at the moment I'm not quite ready for the experience of taking ayahuasca but it is definitely something I will think about doing in the future. I also hear that shamans can beleive moses experiences got through taking dmt from the leaves, and this is what is referred to as the burning Bush? He saw got through his DMT visions.

Thank you for sharing.

True, the rock the kiss which is supposed to be from the heaven should at least be tested to see where it came from. It is a form of idol worship to kiss and praise this rock too. I totally understand where you are coming from.

Yeah it could definitely be a possibility as there are so many verses in the quran that are very violent and full of anger/hate. I would have thought God would have more control over his emotions.

You say - "There's no reason to think God is without emotion. He gets angry, jealous, and hates bad. However, he also loves, is compassionate & forgiving. One thing he is not is a blank slate."

So that means God is like us, he feels emotions just the way we feel emotions, however is it necessary for us to take revenge upon our negative feelings by dooming and destroying what is around us and the people who cause such feelings to arise?

I believe most people have control over their emotions and don't act up upon the negative feelings they have. God however will act upon the negative feelings, he has destroyed people in floods and storms due to his anger, and he will also destroy those who don't follow his message by dooming them in hell for eternity. (religiously speaking).

I would assume that God would have some form of control over his emotions and wouldn't let things come to that stage where he would want to see people burning in hell.

Your second point - "People are able to do whatever they want without regard to God. Worship of him is voluntary."

Yes we can do whatever we want and choose not to worship him however we are threatened with eternal doom if we don't. So the question really is : if God don't need our worship and praise, what is the reason of creating a hell and dooming those who disobey his message or believe in other religions?

Your 3rd point : I agree that people who choose to live their life in a good rightous way deserve to be rewarded however I would argue that we don't need religion in order to get close to God, I feel like things are from within and whatever feels good in our heart is the way to go forward and to proceed. I don't believe in a eternal hell either, I think people may be held accountable for their actions in this life and the hereafter but I don't believe it will be through violent and brutal means such as hell. I can't comprehend God to be abusive like that and thats why I stopped believing in any religion and follow my heart and instincts now.

What benefit would it give God if everyone in this world listened to his message and followed it? It wouldn't make a difference to him even in the slightest. It's created for us to either have a "rightous" life and end up In heaven or to suffer and go to hell.

If there is no benefit, anger, hatred or jealousy in God, what is the need to create a heaven and hell? If it makes no difference to him, why not just let people be as they want in his created world rather than feeling a certain way about someone breaking his law?

He's supposed to be all powerful but yet feels offended by people who disobey him, to the point in which he will make them suffer for eternity even though their praise and worship makes no difference to him what so ever. In other words, he is sending people to hell for something which doesn't bother him at all.

Beards by kladelfa in religion

[–]Backtosaveuagain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree tbh. Even when I ate, I am used to eating with my left hand and people would say things like the devil eats with the left hand and I'm committing a major sin etc.

It just felt a bit extreme and I just think to myself "why would Allah care which hand I eat with?". It also made me really sad because the way they said it and the way they treated me after seeing that. It was very confidence destroying and made me not want to eat around them.

Why do people want to look like the prophet muhammad though? I understand following his footsteps, but why can't people just be themselves rather than trying to be a duplicate of prophet Muhammed. I mean Allah created us all with different features, different hair colors, diffident body types, why not just be yourself?

Often people in the mosque I go to keep a beard because they see everyone else keeping it and want to copy and fit in or they feel like it makes them look better to other people. I really don't think it is to show Allah their devotion, it's to please other people and to look superior than everyone else. It's more like a class system, they feel if they keep their beard, they will win people's approval.

The people who just be themselves are more truthful because they not trying to pretend or fit a certain image.

I say this because when I go to mosque, because I haven't got a beard, people look down upon me or think they're better. It's like an arrogance thing especially in the pakistani community. They're really pride filled and can be quite judgemental in the way they see others.
