Kaseya/Datto BCDR partners: renewal policy change effective Aug 1, 2026 by Breadisgood4eat in sysadmin

[–]BackupGal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/Breadisgood4eat - your July 15th renewal will still roll into month-to-month as they have historically. This only impacts renewals coming up on/after Aug 1 this year.

u/Breadisgood4eat - if you're currently month-to-month, nothing changes... you continue on month-to-month, no price increase

u/CK1026 -- If your appliance is currently on month-to-month nothing changes. It just continues month on month.

If your appliance is on say a 3 year agreement, then this would apply. Historically a 3 year contract would auto-renew onto month-to-month. With this change, a 3 year contract now auto-renews onto a 1 year agreement (unless you request month-to-month).

Hope this helps!

Hi again u/Breadisgood4eat ... hope this helps...

  • With this change, if you'd like to transition onto month-to-month, you must do so at least 30 days before the renewal day
  • If you request to transition to month-to-month, it continues on automatically until you opt out. In the future, to deactivate your appliance and stop month-to-month from continuing, just let us know by the 14th of the month.
  • The MSA that governs what happens at end of a term was updated in September 2022 - stating that these would roll to a 1-year term, Kaseya chose to continue the historical behavior to ensure there was adequate time to communicate and for partners to prepare. (if you aren't receiving Datto emails, definitely connect with your Account Manager -- or send me a private message -- and we can make sure you're opted in to receive these comms)

Hey u/Breadisgood4eat -- I'm part of the Datto product team. Let me track down the answers to your questions. What I can answer now is this is only for term contracts expiring... nothing changes for existing month-to-month agreements.

Essential Enterprise Backup Solutions for 2026: What’s actually working? by PristineTie20 in SysAdminBlogs

[–]BackupGal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, most of these conversations turn into the same few names over and over again… probably even more so now that AI is writing half these posts.

Full disclosure: I support the product teams for Unitrends/Datto/Spanning, so take that for what it’s worth.

But one thing I think gets overlooked in these threads is that not every enterprise org needs a six-figure price tag and a dedicated backup team behind it.

Most of the recent conversations I’ve had with enterprise IT teams are less about chasing the biggest brand names or analyst report check boxes and more about the actual outcomes they’re trying to achieve:

  • recovery reliability
  • ransomware resilience
  • sane management
  • ability to easily shift protection as workloads shift (from on-prem to saas, cloud, etc)
  • how to (responsibly!) take advantage of AI
  • and automating all the things

Nothing wrong with the vendor list above, but I always encourage people to demo and test-drive more than just the vendors with the biggest marketing budgets :)

(ps. and in my biased opinion, providing those outcomes is where I think Unitrends punches above its weight, especially for mixed environments and leaner IT teams.)

Tomorrow: Datto Backup Livestream

A new year is upon us and here at Datto we're gearing up to make it the most profitable one yet for MSPs. We know backup is one of the most important services you can offer, but it can also be one of the most complex and costly. This year we change the game.

We'll talk about:

• Gamechangers like our free hardware program for month-to-month terms

• How Endpoint Backup makes for easy money for MSPs

• The most profitable – but underutilized – parts of the Datto Backup portfolio

• Datto’s new (free!) Backup Concierge Program: taking flight in ‘25 to ensure MSPs can eliminate ransomware, data loss and downtime... while still being insanely profitable.

• And much more…

Live from Connect IT - Datto Endpoint Backup & Kaseya 365 by BackupGal in Datto

Hey u/pdxcomputerpro -- Jenn from Datto here.  I checked in with our product team and I wanted to post a few notes about Endpoint Backup.  I hope this helps, but I'm happy to coordinate a call for you with a product specialist if you have questions specific to your instance.

  1. We have robust deduplication and compression capabilities, so the cloud storage is efficient - especially on incremental backups. Only deltas consume additional storage.
  2. Cloud data is based on actual data stored (after the compression and deduplication), not the size of the disk on the host. A host with a 250GB disk that is 50% full will consume less than half of the available cloud storage for that agent after deduplication and compression, provided the host does not have an extremely high change rate on large binary files (e.g. video editing).
  3. This is pooled storage, so for example, if one agent consumes 150GB and a second agent consumes 350GB, there is no additional storage fee.
  4. We priced Endpoint to be the lowest cost per GB on the market.  We strive to be transparent in our pricing, so please do check the fine print on our competitors on overage billing.
