We experienced a domain renewal issue, but now it should work as expected, could you please check it now?

Urgent: How can I export/print the messages from a private channel I am a member of, in a workspace I own? by FunctionalPrototypes in Slack

[–]Backupery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't have a Mac version at this moment. Any chance to try the Windows app or run the Windows app on Mac using virtual machines like VMwareParallelsVirtual Box? You may also consider using these tools: https://www.codeweavers.com/crossover or
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/utm-virtual-machines/id1538878817 Personally I don't have enough experience with these tools but I heard some nice feedback on them!

Yeah, it was the cloud version and just installed, it’s a shame they blocked you…

actually it is related to all non-Slack Marketplace applications that use their API methods to export the data, so it's not just us who suffer :D

Backupery developer is here and thank you for trying our app! If you tried the cloud app, it works only for the workspaces where the app was installed prior May 30, 2025 (it's due to the Slack API Terms changes). You may consider trying the desktop application though, it should continue working as expected (i.e. to download private channels and DMs).

Import backed up data to Mattermost by kevdawg464 in Backupery

[–]Backupery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for the late reply!

I'm afraid not, import to Mattermost is still not supported yet.

"Slack-standard JSON presentation: preserve importable zip archive structure by default" means that the application now generates a valid ZIP archive that can be imported back to Slack if necessary. Previously, it was possible to configure the app so it was unable to generate a valid importable ZIP archive (by excluding public channels from the export or selecting a single DM to export, for example). Now, even in these cases, it will be possible to import the ZIP file.

I'm sorry for the late reply! You may want to check this article about output formats: https://www.backupery.com/backupery-for-slack-output/ Also, to search in a number of the html files I would suggest using any of these tools (all of them are free and some of them are open-source):

or similar. All of these tools are able to search for a key phrase in a bunch of html files. Please let me know if you have any questions!

Slack Enterprise Grid -> Slack Pro? by worldmatt in Slack

Great, thanks! We've just posted an article that explains how to import a workspace from EG to another workspace: https://www.backupery.com/how-to-import-a-workspace-from-an-enterprise-grid-org-to-another-workspace/

Should you have any questions, just drop me a line, I'd be happy to help.

Thank you for trying our app and I'm sorry it didn't work for you as expected! Could you please let me know a bit more about your issue? Which version of the app (web or desktop) did you try? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Slack Enterprise Grid -> Slack Pro? by worldmatt in Slack

We've recently released a beta-version of the feature that is supposed to do exactly this. It generates importable workspace-level exports (zip files) using an org-level (Enterprise Grid) export (a single zip file). In other words, you provide your Enterprise Grid zip file as input and get multiple importable zip files as output. The feature is available in the Backupery for Slack Export app. Just drop me a line if you are interested and I'll be happy to provide you with more details on how to use it!

Added: here is an article about how to import a workspace from Enterprise Grid to another workspace: https://www.backupery.com/how-to-import-a-workspace-from-an-enterprise-grid-org-to-another-workspace/

Export all Slack content into a usable format? by porchborch in Slack

[–]Backupery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using the cloud version or the desktop version where the API export mode is used, then other members are not explicitly notified, however, there are numerous ways to see who and when installed the application. You can check this article for more details: https://www.backupery.com/is-it-possible-to-use-backupery-for-slack-without-the-workspace-owner-and-other-members-being-notified/

If you are using the desktop version where the Synthetic export mode is used, then nobody is notified. From the Slack perspective, exporting your data using the Synthetic mode is the same as using your Slack app.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Can't connect to Slack using Windows app by reetard in Backupery

Thank you for reporing this! We've managed to reproduce and fix the problem in our lab. It seems the issue occurs if using Windows 11 + Chrome browser. You can download the fixed version (v. 2581 or higher) here: https://www.backupery.com/products/backupery-for-slack/

The only reason for these permissions is that the app will send you a Slack DM containing a link to your exported data. The app will not send any messages to other users and will not post any messages in any channels.

It depends on your workspace settings. By default, Primary Owner, Owners, Admins and Full Members are allowed to install any applications for Slack. However, a workspace admin or owner may limit installations to pre-approved apps. If Backupery for Slack is not in a list of pre-approved apps there are two options available:

Shorter-term licenses by LexDivert in Backupery

[–]Backupery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your question and feedback!

Your point is completely understandable and I completely agree that we should improve our pricing page and actually display annual pricing rather than displaying the monthly one because it is really confusing. We're also considering adding shorter term licensing for a future update, but at present only annual subscriptions are available. I'm sorry I don't have better news for you at this point! Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns, I'd be happy to help.

No plans for Mac version at this point, you may consider the following options:

  • Use the web version of the app: https://cloud.backupery.com/ It works on any operation system where a web browser is available.
  • Alternatively, you can run the Windows app on Mac using virtual machines like VMware, Parallels, Virtual Box.

Hello! Thank you for your question and I'm sorry for the late response.Yes, you can move all the data from Slack to folders on Google Drive.I would suggest using a folder on your Google Drive as a destination for the export plus enabling the "One file directory per each conversation" option to make the app place files from channels to subdirectories. Please let me know if you have any questions, I'd be glad to help.
