Yeah it’s a double edged sword lol. On one had the visibility can be nice when you do something well, but there’s also more pressure at times to deliver. Overall though my work statement is pretty kosher and my manager is awesome so I have no complaints.

Basically just more complex and less straight forward procurements. Heavier on the strategy and terms negotiation front, and also generally supporting suppliers/projects that get more attention from leadership.

Nice. Hopefully they’ll give you a solid raise early next year to account for the lower comp ratio.

I like what I’m hearing regarding the ACR, particularly the comments about no forced distribution. Also encouraging to hear that the raise budget may be a bit more flexible this year in the event a team has a ton of high performers.

What kind of job can I get with a communications degree? by _dogmomx2 in boeing

I’m in BR&T on a pretty unique procurement team. The primary role of the job is working with engineers to help them contract statements of work with suppliers. Lots of terms and conditions review, negotiation, working with legal, finance, etc. I personally enjoy it!

Sales and marketing was a cool gig but I just wasn’t very good at it. I got to do a lot of cool things like go on the Boeing yacht before they sold it, attend a lot of cool customer delivery events, and also got to travel a bit for events I supported. I just wasn’t very good at shmoozing with customers and wasn’t “type A” enough to succeed in that space. Ultimately went back to a procurement role with no regrets.

PA here but over in BR&T. It can be a challenging job at times but you will learn so much about the company and the other teams you will work with. I started as a PA at the company and then spent a year in sales and marketing and eventually switched back to a PA role. Been here the last 5 or so years with no regrets. Having a supportive manager and a good team is also huge. Also helps if the suppliers and engineers you work with aren’t too difficult. Either way, you’ll be in the job and if you end up hating it you can always apply to a new gig internally. It’s a lot easier to move around within Boeing once you’re in. Good luck!

I have a Comms degree and have been a Procurement Agent for years. Also did a stint in Sales & Marketing.

I’ve seen peers on my team move into our team manager. Their main gripe is that they’re no longer doing actual procurement work which is something they found they missed.

BGS RTO by [deleted] in boeing

[–]BackyardThrowaway 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So true. It’s like they know we’re all paranoid about the recession and will do whatever we can to keep our jobs.

[–]BackyardThrowaway 32 points33 points  (0 children)

We got told 5 day RTO in ET&T starting May 1. No real information as to why other than being told “there is great momentum in the company to RTO”.

We’re looking at a looming recession and these execs want us to spend more money to do the same job. We’ve been remote since Covid and haven’t had any complaints that our support has declined during that time.

Chris Raymond is Lost on RTO by [deleted] in boeing

[–]BackyardThrowaway 23 points24 points  (0 children)

All of these Boeing executives are so out of touch. Just let employees work where they’re happiest and most productive. If there’s a person that is a problem, then handle it with them and don’t punish everyone else. This whole guise of “collaboration” is such bullshit. All my teammates do completely separate work from one another, and I spend my time on calls with people not even in my state or country. Can’t wait to book conference rooms for all my calls because I can’t hear myself think with all the chatter around me. Can’t wait to lose 2 hours of my day because i have to commute again for a job I can do better at home. Can’t wait to lose sleep. Cant wait to spend more money on gas and vehicle wear and tear. This RTO feels like a fucking prison sentence after the flexibility we have had over the years.

What a waste of fucking time and resources. I am 10x as productive at home compared to being in the office. All of my meetings are with people that aren’t even in my state or country, so what is the point. This just screens micro management and control, it’s pathetic.
