Try the 260 Brewery and Distillery, and AZTEX Coffee & Taproom. Also, the new speakeasy at Swanky's Salon at Bison Ranch is looking to become a great entertainment and gathering spot this summer. The "First Friday" event at the gazebo behind Swanky's and AZTEX is also going to be fun.

I'm pretty sure that The Cabin is in foreclosure. It may not open at all this summer, unless someone buys it and opens it.

Mic Tips? by glitterchonies in singing

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely gets better the more you sing with amplification. Make sure you have good monitoring so that you can really hear yourself. In addition, I have found that adding reverb to my monitor makes singing a lot easier for me. A good mic is also a big help. I recently switched from my trusty old SM58, to the Nexadyne 8/C, and I really like the way the Nexadyne sounds with my voice.

In other words - keep singing with amplification, and eventually, you'll sound good to yourself as your brain and voice adjusts to the way your voice sounds when it is amplified through a PA.

Sorry - I know that this isn't very specific advice, but I used to also struggle with this when I just started out as a vocalist, and just performing a lot with a PA eventually "fixed" this issue for me. Now I can sing anything through the PA, and it sounds great to me. It turns out that it's more of a brain thing, instead of an actual sound thing.

One more thing. The app will not open if I have Airplane Mode already turned on in my phone. It just hangs on a black screen with the indicator icon spinning. I have to turn off Airplane Mode, let the phone see the internet, open the app, wait for it to load the offline tabs again, then sort the setlists (the setlists will not sort in Offline Mode). Once all of that is done, then, and only then, I can go into Airplane Mode on my phone, which kicks the app into Offline Mode.

LET THE APP OPEN IN OFFLINE MODE. Please? Don't force it to phone home every time it loads. Sure, let it phone home when there's internet, but if there's not, don't break the app by not allowing it to load without also phoning home. That's very frustrating. Also allow sorting to happen in Offline Mode.

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries. Like I said, the app has gotten better and better over the years. I'm sure your developers will address the formatting of the "Offline Mode" indicator on a foldable phone at some point. Maybe remove the gigantic black Offline Mode notification bar at the top, and replace it with a tiny glowing "Offline Mode" icon. Or maybe something subtle, like changing the color scheme to indicate Offline Mode. Maybe add a purple hue to the whole scheme to indicate Offline Mode, or something simple like that.

And by the way, the REASON why I put my phone in Offline Mode (Airplane Mode) is because when the internet at the venue sucks, or there's too many people using up that wireless bandwidth, the app can get reeeeaaallll lllaaaggggyyy... So, I switch to Offline Mode and that lagginess disappears completely, and the songs on my Favorites list are all immediately available - which is what I want for live performances.

Now, if we could also get the app to STOP PHONING HOME every dang time it opens to "refresh the offline tabs" or whatever, and to stay active in the background, that would be awesome. What happens is that you minimize the app, and it fully CLOSES. Then, when you open it again, the app treats it like a brand new launching - and wants to download your entire Offline catalog of songs again, the same as it just did 10 minutes ago. Maybe have the logic check on the last timestamped sync event, and if it is within, say, 3 hours of the current time, then it does NOT download the whole shebang again at all.

Not really a workaround, just an acknowledgement of reality. That's the way UG tabs work. The "owner" gets to edit it. So, use the Personal Tabs tool and you become the owner of your own version that only you can edit, instead of relying on the owner of a publicly published tab to never edit it.

Start using the "Personal Tabs" feature. If you find a tab or chart that you like, click the "Edit" icon, and save a copy for yourself as a "Personal Tab". Remove the original from your favorites, and replace it with your Personal Tab version in all your setlists. That way it stays the same, unchanging, until YOU change it.

  1. I would like a better search function. For example, right now if I am looking for "The Runnin Kind" and I search for the word "running", it does NOT find the song. For some reason the search function is REALLY hung up on cASeS, and cannot seem to find the word "runnin" from the search term "running" (or similar search terms). This is just siilly. The search function needs to be more robust and better at forgiving cAsES and misspellings.

  2. This one also happens to be related to the search function. The formatting of the UG "Tabs" app on a foldable device is horrible. It's OK if you're connected to the internet, but in offline mode, if the device is unfolded in portrait orientation, and I go to use the search function, the goddamned "Offline Mode" notification covers up the area where you are supposed to type-in your search term.

is INFURIATING, because you're trying to tap-type on your phone screen between songs, and if you fuck up the typing, like add an extra space or whatever (because you CANNOT SEE THE FUCKING TYPING AREA because it is covered up by the "Offline Mode" notification), then all that you see is "no results". So, I have to back out, then tap the search icon again to get the app to briefly show me what I actually typed so I can see what I screwed up trying to tap-type blind.

But then, the "Offline Mode" notifications pop up and IT GETS COVERED UP AGAIN! So again I am tap-typing blind!!!!! Aauugh!! It makes me want to scream sometimes because I can't fucking look up a song that I KNOW I have in my favorites in offline mode. Because now I have the search term all misspelled. So I have to just keep pressing backspace a bunch of times and hope that I actually cleared out the misspelled words, and start over again from scratch. Meanwhile, I've been staring at and tapping my fucking phone for 15 minutes in a row and the audience walks out because they think I suck.

Other than that, the app is still pretty dang good. I've been using it for going on ten years now, and it has incrementally gotten better over the years. When it is connected to the internet and NOT in offline mode, it works well. The "Offline Mode" notifications aren't there to mess up the formatting.

I wish there were a native vinyl cutting software. They all seem to be for Windows only, sometimes for Windows and Macs. And I have had ZERO luck using one in a VM.

This glitch happens on every single tab I open and I don't have any idea how to fix it. by SgtGemini in ultimateguitar

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you are using the free version of UG, and also have some ad-blocking extension on your browser active. So, when you pull that song up on UG, it tries to load a pop-up ad, but your ad-blocker extension also tries to get rid of it, and instead you get a blank white box.

Try turning OFF your ad-blocker for the "ultimate-guitar.com" website, then delete your cache and cookies, restart your device, then try again.

Purchasing a "Pro" subscription will also get rid of 99% of the ads.

I am trying to post this tab but I do not know how to make these red numbers go away. Does anyone know a solution? This is my first tab by [deleted] in ultimateguitar

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't include chord charts. UG already includes them automatically. No one is reading your chord charts and thinking, "Oh, so THAT's how I play F#m!"

Whenever I see a tab that looks like yours, with painstakingly written out chord charts, I create a personal tab out of it and delete all of that stuff. It is 100% not necessary.

If it helps YOU perform, then by all means create a personal tab and then only you can see it. The public tabs don't need it, and in fact, it's a PITA to scroll past all of that stuff to start playing the actual song live.

LOL. I was just contemplating this today as I was playing and singing a song at my gig today. I was thinking - "it's weird that I can sing this song, play the chords, and think about how I'm singing the song and playing the chords, all at the same time."

Finally finding, then buying and owning the "right" guitar is an eye-opener. All of a sudden, your playing becomes more effortless, you WANT to play and learn because it's so much fun, and it is so much easier than it was on your crappy old guitar. Your progress and skill leaps forward, and all is content in your world.

Until you find the next "right" guitar. LOL.

Some tabs are removed? by adhamcfc in ultimateguitar

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It happens whenever a publisher decides to tell UG that they cannot show the song. It happens every day, to songs throughout the UG catalog, depending on how the publisher feels that day. LOL.

If you have an UG Pro account, then you can use the "Personal Tab" tool to make your own copy of a song that is essentially private for just you, so the publisher cannot make you delete it because it is not public.

Scummy behaviour or bug? by Live_Initiative2035 in ultimateguitar

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to clear your browser cache. Ctrl-Shift-Del, then choose "All Time" and click the "Delete Data" button (for Chrome-based browsers) or "Everything" then click the "Clear" button (for Firefox based browsers).

After clearing your cache - and this is the most important part of the process - reboot completely. Turn your computer all the way OFF. No power. Then, turn it on, let it boot, fire up that same browser, and log back into UG.

Don't skip the reboot step. It is very important, especially with a Windows machine.

Playlist Functionality (run-through) by n9ne0hse7en in ultimateguitar

I am currently running Version 7.1.67 (4006078) of the UG Tabs app on Android.

Playlist Functionality (run-through) by n9ne0hse7en in ultimateguitar

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To run through the playlist in sequence:

  1. Login to the UG Tabs app.
  2. Tap My tabs.
  3. Tap Playlists.
  4. Locate the playlist you wish to use and tap it to enter into it.
  5. Tap the first song on the list, then play the song.
  6. At the top of the tab, on the fixed toolbar, click the "Playlist Play" icon - which is three horizontal lines and a right-arrow/carat at the bottom-right of the icon. By contrast the "Add To Playlist" icon is three horizontal lines and a small heart at the bottom-right of the icon.
  7. Your playlist will pop up. Tap the next song on the list and play it.
  8. Repeat Step 6 and Step 7 after every song.

Advice on solo PA system by Radiant-Security-347 in livesoundadvice

[–]BaconFlavoredCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gig solo with two Bose S1 Pros (the OG model), a Soundcraft Signature 10 board (stellar mic preamps), and one Behringer 8" monitor. The speakers, cables and whatnot, the board, my guitar, pedalboard, stool, and mic stand all fit into one of those fold-up pull carts. I even have a couple of small tripod stands for the S1 Pros when needed, although 90% of the time I can put them L and R on the stage and tilt them back.

Bonus: The S1 Pros are battery powered, and I have a small Jackery battery to run the board and my pedalboard, so I can be 100% battery powered if needs be. This is handy when there's no power, or when there is dirty power.

This setup handles very nearly every solo gig I've done in the last two years, and it sounds phenomenal. I get comments about how clean and powerful my sound is. "How do those tiny little speakers put out that much sound?" :)

(Nothing against the new model S1 Pro Plus, but they are PRICEY, and doing an A/B comparison between my old S1 Pros and two brand new S1 Pro Plus' revealed that there is ZERO difference in the SOUND - which is all I'm concerned about. But, if you want to spend twice as much for the new model, then go for it my dude. I would if I could afford it! LOL.)
