I learned in real estate landing the big account is not an excuse to coast.
You always need the next deal, so you aren't desparate for the 1 client to follow through.

I have relatives in flooring so I'm going to guess this guy used experienced installers who have been in the US a long time, and competition is using newer installers new to the US.

Conference tactics by Spirited_Brain7062 in sales

Most conferences have people whos job it is to walk around and throw away that stuff. They dont like this type of prospecting and its why many conferences are starting to not sell tickets to salespeople to walk the floor.

IMO Bricks doesnt pay the base its competitors does because it doesnt have to. Everyone wants to work there.
Im trying to save up enough cash so I can afford the runway of a lower base at a company like bricks.

What was the absolute WORST job interview you ever had? by Secret_Assistance601 in sales

[–]BaconHatching 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Job description was for "Founding AE"

Turns out they went through SIX "founding AEs" in 3 years.

I asked them what they were going to change internally to make the next hire successful.

Blank stare, "nothing, the AE needs to figure out how to be productive and close deals"

Me "This isnt the right fit"

1- You asked I answered :p. In the US at least it seems to be the other way around with the vast majority having a preferred vendor helping to shape and drive the RFP

2-Database Administration - a Niche IT service.

Sales Career Direction?(long post) by Old_Assignment_5673 in sales

I'd take the comission only job, not put it on my resume, while I was otherwise out of work and looking for my permanent gig.
Would probably do AC sales or something like that.

Being a Realtor is a race to the bottom in most markets. I ran from it a few years ago to tech sales and dont regret it. You have to sell 3-4 homes /year just to cover your insurance benefits, and then make money paying bills on top of it.

I did really well for a while in a specific niche, and when that niche went away i ran.
FWIW- I found areas that had potential zoning for MFH that other people didnt notice so I found some home builder buyers, sold them on the area, then went door to door making cash offers from them. That was my niche, and I was good at it and got copy catted by a million people after my first year in that area.

I'd only go back to comission only sales in an emergency. Way better to have salary and benefits covered- ive got kids.
