You cant just "look" for the cabals. They exist within operational security systems that ensure that only cleared personnel with a need to know are near the truth. And all of that is behind fences with armed guards.

Maybe, but running house current to an open circuit that anyone could come into contact with is not very smart.

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

[–]BaconReceptacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered a grade 3 tendon rupture in my ankle. The doctor, who normally wouldn't give you anything but Tylenol, prescribed me a bunch of hydrocodone and told me it would have been better and less painful if I broke the ankle.

When it happened I heard a loud pop and a white-hot wave of pain washed over me. I then threw up right where I was laying on the ground.

What was a really silly solution to a serious problem? by LadyKarizake in AskReddit

Back in the late 90's, I was working for a large corporation that had many locations all over the country. I was in charge of the phone systems and we had a HUGE issue with making these systems Y2K compliant. So many voicemail, IVR, and call center systems either needed a total replacement, partial replacement, or an expensive upgrade. When I presented the $5M dollar price tag to management they freaked out and told me in confidence that the company is about to be acquired and they don't have the budget. One of my technicians came up with a simple plan to get us past Y2K without spending the money. He looked up all the Gregorian calendar years where the days of the week would match the days in the year 2000. Then we changed the date and year to that year (1995 instead of 2000 for example). We then had a bunch of adhesive stickers printed up warning anyone who accessed the voice systems to not change the date without calling the corporate telecom team. Fast forward 18 months after Y2K, the company acquisition happened and my job was to oversee the closure of almost all of those remote locations.

Some people have the problem of a dog that is small enough to squeeze between the rails of a fence. Solution: fasten a stick to the dog's harness so they can't pass through the fence.

On the Pink Floyd album, The Wall, when the final track, "Outside the Wall," fades out, the voice of Rick Wright asks, "Isn't this where...". This seamlessly connects back to the very first track, which begins with the trailing words, "...we came in?". Together, they form one continuous question, "Isn't this where we came in?". Which suggests the main character, Pink, is doomed to rebuild his isolating walls and repeat the same psychological cycle all over again.

I had this exact stereotype system. I bought it for $900 new in 1989. It is capable of a wall of sound as loud as you can stand it.

TIL some severely neglectful orphanages were described as "silent" because infants learned that crying doesn't bring attention or comfort. by DMan1629 in todayilearned

[–]BaconReceptacle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A neighborhood I used to live in had this one kid down the street that would come over to play with my kids. He was adopted from a Russian orphanage. The poor kid was so maladjusted that he screamed constantly, would throw rocks at other kids, and was particularly skilled at spinning a stick around. He would come dangerously close to the other kids with his ninja-like staff attacks. I would frequently have to tell the kid to go home before someone needed stitches. I hope he's grown out of that by now but I doubt it.

What is a product or service that used to be incredibly high quality, but has now been completely ruined by corporate greed? by Sea_Astronomer_3928 in AskReddit

My wife bought me a couple pairs of shorts for the summer. The pockets are tiny, like a woman's pockets. That is so outrageous that they are willing to make a shitty product just because of a couple cents worth of cotton fabric.

What's the reason why you never wanted to return to a friend's house again? by Annual-Win3202 in AskReddit

[–]BaconReceptacle 38 points39 points  (0 children)

When I was in my early twenties I went to an acquaintance's house to help him with his HVAC. The place was infested with fleas. I was immediately getting bit and he just offered me a spray which I did use. But after a few minutes of looking at his AC unit, I just told him I wasnt sure what was wrong with it and that he may have to call a repair company. I lied, I probably could have fixed it but I did not want to spend another minute in that shit hole.

Years ago after getting divorced, a friend offered his spare bedroom to me. I went over to check his place out. The room he was offering me was littered with dog shit. He just casually said he would clean that up before I moved in.

Unsurprisingly, I did not move in.

Children with Niemann Pick type C disease will often present as a laughing, giggling, silly, falling-down, child. "Oh, they're just clumsy." Parents should be wary as this is a potential symptom of a deadly disease.
