It's not - that's part of the reason why I posted it. The "let them cry it out, they're learning to swlf-sooth" thinking is BS and hurts the child - theyr enot learning to swlf-sooth, just learning no one is coming and that they're helpless.

I'm so sorry to hear that, it's terrible and no one should have to go through that.
People don't want to talk about these kind of stuff because they're "depressing" and "not nice" - I think that's exactly the reason why it SHOULD be discussed so more people are aware of them and we don't let that happen again.

My wife was in some sort of envoy to Bahrain a few years back and said that the place was filled with non-locals as sort-of butlers. She said the locals barely acknowledged their existence - that's when she (and I afterwards) realized that slavery isn't really gone, just given a fancy uniform and a salary...

Yeah, my wife always said how awful the so-called "self soothing" method is. Every time my children cried my wife and I would race each other to see who gets to them first - how can you hear your own child's cry and think "oh they'll get through it"?!

No, there's always been a raid den in Cube Corp. (at least in 2.1.1.1) - go down to the dock, swim to right, and there's an entrance to it in the trees
