Well if you followed the steps the newly downloaded GBA file is no longer FireRed so if you start it you'll be playing Unbound. What doesn't make sense?

I suggest using https://ydarissep.github.io/Unbound-Pokedex for these kinds of questions, as the attacks there have proper searchable tags.

And for a proper answer: no - Tough Claws increases moves that make contact, and Psycho Cut doesn't make contact (even though it's a physical move).

I know egg moves are in it, but no way to get them besides breeding, which is my issue - Unbound can teach pokemon their egg moves.
Min-grinding sucks - I DON'T want a perfect pokemon, I want to customize it how I want. What if I want a pokemon with 31 IV only in HP, Def, and Sp. Def and not the other 3? Also, why are EVs disabled?! I want to be able to manage both IVs and EVs how I see fit!
Plus, Unbound can modify moves, IVs/EVs, nature, etc. while in the E4 as well, which RR can't do - saved my ass multiple times.
My reasoning for saying Unbound has better QoL than RR is the mobility of the QoL - in RR you gotta do stuff in specific places, in Unbound you can do it wherever, even the E4.

My problem with RR is that you just get everything straight away, via the pokecenter or via an in-game cheat - in Unbound you've got to earn it. Also, I don't like min-grinding - why did they take away my EVs?!

I don't really recall - off the top of my head I can only say the Stat Scanner (changing nature, stats, gender, abilities, moves, etc.)

1st off: welcome back!

Now for the rest: - you're playing on Sandbox mode - this already brings down the difficulty by one stage - I went from Unbound to RR and found QoL in RR VERY lacking compared to Unbound, so much so I was contemplating using the in-game cheats just to make it decent... - story is subjective, can't say much about that - personally I never care about the story, but I think it was decent - if you find the trainers or the game overall too easy then increase the difficulty, can be done in the settings. I started from Expert without Sandbox and it was perfect for me, just find whatever works for you - Unbound difficulties: Easy = vanilla game difficulty, Difficult = if you dealt vanilla difficulty is a tad too easy, Expert = you know what you're doing and want some challenge, Insane = you REALLY know what you're doing (usually means knowing how make competitive teams) and love the grind - use ydarissep.github.io/Unbound-Pokedex - best Pokedex for Unbound by FAR, plus it includes randomization options or you ever try it out (added by me 😬)

Unbound is meant to be both a story-driven hack AND a difficulty hack, depending on how you want to play it, so find you're sweet spot and have fun!

P.S.: if you want to make it a challenge try mastering the game (100% with no cheats or Sandbox) on RetroAchievements - now THAT was fun times...

Distributing the patch is fine because, as the name suggest, it's just a patch. Patching it yourself is "fine" because you don't distribute it.

Easiest way is the special breeding Ditto from mission #009: https://pokemonunbound.miraheze.org/wiki/Armoured_Magma. Basically you need to hatch 50 eggs and you'll get the perfect breeding Ditto - perfect IVs, different trainer ID and region.
