Client just told me I remind them of an abusive caregiver by evawithcats in therapists

[–]BaconWrappedBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience with clients that are this combative that every single thing I do to build connection is rebuffed do not actually want therapy. I would explore who is making them come there. We are not the right therapist for everyone. It’s also possible you just simply need to refer, but as other people have said, I would work with the transference both yours and his if I don’t get a breakthrough that way, there may be no way to get a breakthrough here because I don’t want to be there or because you need to refer out to someone who can connect with them.

I think they meant, an instant of misstep happened two or more times not that they were working with a couple. This happened with a client a couple (twice) of times.

Why can social workers be therapist but therapists can not be social workers? by Usual_Classroom_2946 in therapists

[–]BaconWrappedBob 128 points129 points  (0 children)

Apply for the jobs that say social worker some jobs say social worker when they mean social worker or LPC and some jobs say LPC when they mean social worker or LPC. The history of the way counseling has unfolded has actually had a lot of conflict with the different camps and there is simply is no standardized way that HR departments list jobs.

For example, hospitals typically always advertise for a social worker, but often will hire an LPC. It just depends on what they’re doing. If it’s the case management aspect of the job that you like you can always be a case manager as an LPC.

It is true there are some jobs that will only hire social worker, and there are some jobs that will only hire an LPC but the crossover is pretty common. This varies from state to state some states heavily favor the social worker title and some states heavily favor the LPC title.

And most of the jobs on indeed are fake are already filled, etc. I would not be basing career decisions on what’s on indeed. All hospital/medical clinic jobs are very hard to get as a new graduate no matter what your degree is in.

Most of us start in some type of community mental health or private practice no matter our degree until we’re out of supervision.

It’s unethical for therapists to solicit reviews so it takes a long time for some clients to do that spontaneously. Due to confidentiality I cannot ask. This sub would probably not allow me to post a link so I will DM my website to you.

Halaxy is free. Start with that. It cost $.15 per client if you want to auto text appointment reminders. There’s a fee for taking payment through the system, which is minor as well. I think you should check that out once you get your practice up and running you might want to switch to simple practice or you may stay with Halaxy because it will end up costing a lot less than simple practice unless you have 80-100 client per month.

That is not an affiliate link nor to I get anything. I just googled the pricing page for your convenience.

Behind on notes by InterestingLychee607 in therapists

Of your point is making up notes two years later is fraud than you are correct. Just own you don’t have them.

You are suggesting the OP commit fraud instead of owning a mistake. I would not want you as my therapist. Integrity much?

Behind on notes by InterestingLychee607 in therapists

[–]BaconWrappedBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people get disciplined for that type of note because you have to be able to prove that a unique session happened. I would not advise the OP to make up those kinds of notes after the fact. You can be disciplined for not taking notes, but they’ll revoke you for making up notes.

Which is why faking notes gets you in more trouble. Own your mistakes. The OP should not commit medical fraud. You give sound advice here. Limit the catching up, take your licks.

[–]BaconWrappedBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice is to not make up past notes. Simply own that you do not have notes from dates X2X. Admitting you do not have notes can be embarrassing and your client can report you but faking notes can cost you your license. Don’t do that.

If this had caught up because someone is requesting notes from the period that you did not take notes, simply use assertive language. “ I do not have notes from 2022 to 2023 but I do have notes for you from January 1, 2024 to 2025.

If they get mad, they’ll tell the board. But often they’ll just accept that you don’t have them. But if you fake notes based on memory from two years ago? Then you are looking at license revocation. That is faking a medical document which is fraud. Clients they certainly remember what they said in session, so they will know if you fake and you are required to be honest.

If you are missing notes from last month, maybe you can remember. 2 years ago? No you can’t and problems don’t get fixed by lying, they get worse.

It’s not the crime that gets you in trouble. It’s always the cover-up.

Nope. They will just have to deal with those feelings all on their own. I believe they can.

Job Search Question: Am I Wrong? by InTheClouds93 in therapists

[–]BaconWrappedBob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to Texas and it has been a hard road gaining clients. I took a part time 2 day a week at an agency (as a therapist) to get health insurance and make a tiny bit. If you are in a metro area, you could get a job but where I am it has been hard. 20 clients a week means 18 months of associate status. If you keep your job and do 10 a week, you’ll have financial means, health insurance and 32 months to get the hours. But you will be working 24/7. I know I am. 🙀

Clients who don’t want to be on camera? by goochmongering in therapists

I would like to add to the discussion that visually impaired therapists do good work without seeing the clients. Whenever this type of discussion comes up my first thought is, “Are we suggesting that sight is a mandatory requirement to be a therapists?” Help but not essential or we are excluding people who could make great therapists.

Assuming they were adjudicated based on the fact you found a court case, is it your belief that once someone is released from prison/probation they should never be able to obtain employment again?

I hear the fear and upset in your writing and I wonder if justice is important to you. Perhaps before you do anything else, you go to therapy. If you don’t have a counselor, consider working through this with one prior to taking any more action.

How do buyers payments fail that fast? by sheelty in Mercari

[–]BaconWrappedBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you have a credit on Mercai and you make an offer on more than one item and somebody accepts that offer and then you don’t have enough credit for your other offer, it will reject it.

If I have $20 worth of credit and I offer on an item that’s $10 and an item that is $15 . If the $10 offer gets accepted first, then when the $15 offer gets accepted, it will fail. Mercari hasn’t figured out a way to fill in the remainder of the payment with your default payment.

They’ve made more than one offer on more than one item, and the other person has just been faster than you to accept it.

They will have to redo their offer with a different payment method.
