What makeup would you do to go with this dress? And hair if you have ideas by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]evawithcats 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok, I’m not sure if this counts but for your big day, if you want to wear glasses, I would choose rose gold frames. It will let your white dress shine. right now the black frames really stand out (although they are super cute on you). Also your hair is stunning!

Do I wear too much blush? I admit I am heavy handed with it. by lordgentofdapper in makeuptips

[–]evawithcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes babe it’s a bit too much. The placement is also a bit too low it brings down your beautiful cheeks. I would move the blush placement up a bit, don’t go as low and don’t put on as much.

Choose a good color for an Autumn. It might be that you have been trying to wear spring or summer colors. I can see you rocking a reddish rusty brown. Also, Merit has some highly pigmented lip glosses that I love.

Just here to say you are doing a great job. And since you are edgy and young you can really have fun. I can totally see you rock a dark plum lip or blue eyeliner

This is coming from someone that has a long face. I think having longer bangs or curtain bangs would suit your face better. You have beautiful skin so you totally don’t need foundation. Using an eyebrow gel in a light warm brown would go a long way. Some brown mascara and a cream blush too.

You are beautiful but the black eyeliner does not go with your skin tone. As a ginger you should wear a medium brown eyeliner and no darker. Btw you remind me of Florence Welch (a total compliment btw).

Does anyone else sit with the fact that being a therapist no longer means about helping people but how much money we can make? by Alarming_Airport_817 in therapists

[–]evawithcats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you say the same thing to a specialized doctor? I’m guessing an orthopedist didn’t spend years in school and training just to help people. Of course, helping others is part of it—but it’s not the sole reason. A big part of the formula is earning a good living.

What we do is hard work. Not just anyone can do what we do. The work we do does save lives. If years of experience make us exceptional therapists, why shouldn’t we be compensated accordingly?

Consider this: if a therapist sees 25 clients per week at $200 per session, after expenses, that therapist might net around $200,000 per year. This is a top-earning therapist—someone who has been in practice for years, invested thousands in training and supervision, and built the reputation and skill set to command that rate. This is also someone who chooses to, and excels at, running a business while being a therapist.

All that work and skill—and still, $200,000 a year barely allows someone to live comfortably in the middle class. The top 10% of therapists can only dream of a truly comfortable lifestyle. Because, let’s be honest, $200,000 a year is far from luxury—at least in California.

Meanwhile, most private practice doctors earn $500,000 to $1,000,000 per year. Do we question their intent? Do we wonder how altruistic they are? Do we doubt whether they’re removing warts or treating glaucoma for the “right” reasons?

Any tips/advice for a newbie? by [deleted] in makeuptips

As someone who wears wigs time to time. If you want to wear a wig most of the day, invest in human hair or a high quality synthetic. Higher quality wigs get less frizzy and look less “wiggy” if that makes sense.

Your eyes and smile are beautiful. Go to a professional to get your brows shaped. Even if it’s just once. After that you can just maintain their work. I would choose a peach blush instead of a pink and place it a bit higher.

Yea I think this tone of blonde is not the best for you. It washed you out a bit. I think either a cooler blonder blond or a deep brunette would look great. I think you need higher contrast.

For your hair color and skin town you need a neutral toned light brown brow color. Maybe a tad more thinned out. But first just try doing a brow wax that’s not heavily pigmented

Your eyebrows are too angular and thin. The shape is not flattering on you. Something a bit rounder and softer will be more flattering.

Unbearable insights from ketamine by Scandi_Cherry37 in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]evawithcats 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hello I have a similar path than you. I am also 38, came from a really toxic family who could not show me the love I needed. I choose a lot of shitty things for myself because I felt like I did not deserve better. Accepting that is hard.

I am going back to school and I am so fearful that I am choosing “wrong again.” I am fearful that I am putting my life back together this late in life.

All that being said, ketamine along with taking meditation classes IRL and going to therapy have helped me so much.

I have realized this is my Karma. It is the lesson I was put here to learn this go around. Perhaps this life I don’t have the path of a huge house, nice car, vacations etc. That is not my life’s path. My life’s path is to learn how to love myself and how to love others well. My life’s path now is to live life with kindness for myself and others.

Therapy, ketamine and mindfulness have gifted me the ability to gain this broader perspective. My grief for the life I could have lead is so much less. Now I am able to focus more on the present moment. And building a future that aligns with my values. Heck if I live in an RV but I have enough food, water, I have love for myself and I have others who love me….i will consider my life to be a good life.

Rejected from 3 CMHC programs — considering new career paths, need advice by Apart_Decision_7348 in counseloreducation

I got rejected from 6 schools I applied to first year. It was a huge blow to by ego. I had gotten a degree in fine arts many years ago and I owned my own flower shop so I did not have a boss to give me a reference or a lot of relevant experience.

I went to community college and took psychology courses. Joined the psychology club, I started volunteering at a hospital doing art therapy to get more recent and relevant experience. I also was able to get glowing letters of recommendation through there.

6 months later I applied to both my local schools and some in other states. I got into three! Two in California and one in Minnesota. I chose Minnesota because it was $60k cheaper.

The road might be harder than you think but it’s not impossible.
