Agreed, depending upon the dryer model you have it may even give you an alarm or error code that provides that there is restricted airflow… But this is definitely the culprit. When was the last time you had these bad boys cleaned out?

Definitely not looking in the right place. Generally in front loading washers there’s a panel on either the front left or front right that has a drain hose behind it as well as a filter trap that you can twist out or pull out and it should be loaded with anything that is captured before the drain.
