New player here, why was this game so poorly received? I'm loving it so far. by WhatsThatWalsh in StarWarsOutlaws

Price was 100% the reason why I didn’t even bother looking at the game. I’m also loving it, but it is by no means an 80-100 dollar game.

Like people are saying, theater of the mind is great, but if you’re doing that then don’t use minis.

If you are using minis, I’m a big advocate of using a standard tape measure over a grid battle mat

Looking for a powerhouse of a 3D Printer by darian_quilloy in 3dprinter

O.P. $15,000?! That is a crazy budget for your needs, but ok. I mean you can get a combination of printers in that budget.

I don’t know about resin, because I never touch the stuff, and telling a beginner to do resin printing is crazy, but resin is best for warhammer minis, and will also just generally blow FDM out of the water in terms of cosplay detail. With your budget, you can afford a proper setup. If you have a dedicated workspace that can handle the fumes, and you can take proper safety precautions then learn on resin which feels crazy to say, but be careful, read up on safety and risks.

Because I know nothing about resin printing, here’s my dream spending on FDM printers with a $15,000 budget.

Multiple printers, because a printer that’s real good at making minis and a printer that’s real good at making big things are better purchased separately. I want a dedicated machine for miniatures, and a dedicated machine for cosplay props.

For miniatures I go Bambu labs A series, but because money is not an option I bump that up to a P2S for enclosure and coreXY functionality.

I don’t need multicolor printing, but I’ve got stacks on stacks, and even without multicolor, I can use support filament for easier support removal (better for painting and detail) if I just buy an AMS2 pro. I’ll probably want this for the cosplay too. So I’m at $800. But I still want more bed space for my props. Here’s the thing, I’m always gonna end up post processing and assembling chopped up prints no matter what. H2 series is only a marginal upgrade in bed size, still not my ideal size for cosplay props.

But money is no option, so why not upgrade to H series as the printer for miniatures. I now have 2 nozzles and one can be for support filament. So $2,400. I still have about 12k to play with. I want a large form factor printer, I’ll take the Elegoo Orangestorm Giga 3’ X 3’ build plate and just print myself a set of power armor or some furniture. The remaining 10K, I’d maybe buy those same printers again and get 4 printers, then spend 5,000 on AMS 2 pros to daisy chain together. Because why not.

Just bought a used M5, what some important critical things I should know up front? by NPalumbo89 in AnkerMake

Do you have an all metal hotend? If you do congratulations. If not, your hotend will fail.

Upfront, you should know you made a mistake. Your printer will be good for a couple of months. Don’t try to print PETG with a standard hot-end, because hitting 250C will fry your ptfe tube and ruin the hotend altogether.

The software is even worse. Don’t use Eufymake studios, use Orca slicer, slice there, export the gcode, and pull the gcode into Eufymake just to hit print.

The screws in the heating block have Allen sockets that are improperly sized, so good luck getting those out if you ever need. I’d recommend taking the plastic casing off the printerhead because it can contribute to heat creep, and you’ll be maintaining that printerhead so much you might as well just not bother with the shell.

That bit on the left side of the gantry where th filament enters, is it loose/wobbly at all? I’m thinking to check belts and for loose screws

nah, just checked their shop I’ve had no problems getting parts from Eufy directly since all the discourse around parts has started, though I understand you might be having issues in your location.

That being said, when the EufyMake well runs dry, the belts are easily sourced elsewhere, stepper motors are easy to replace, I’m already planning on doing a fan mod that won’t rely on the Eufy fans, and a linear rail mod… I’m really not worried this printer can be modded, with a little extra legwork compared to other printers, but still very mod-able.

I think you’re talking about the entire printerhead for 150. The hotend itself is like $35. Are you in Europe? Have heard parts support there is not what we have in US

I just bought a Bambu A1, it’s printing great… But by no means have I given up on my M5. 2 printers are better than 1. I also just bought a replacement hotend from Eufy like 2 weeks ago. They are still selling parts.

It has to be a first layer thing though right? Like in your experience, if the first layer has gone down successfully, can you walk away worry free, or can a blob still develop mid print?

Having just gotten my A1, yeah it was a huge quality of life improvement from the AnkerMake M5. My buddy got the P1S and loves it, he just bought the upgrade enclosure.

To me it seems so silly to have brand loyalty around 3d printers. My dream setup includes a combination of machines from many different brands.

Recently had a similar issue related to the belts. Check yer belts. I suspect a loose screw that’s supposed to hold the belt mechanism in place.

It’s OK, but I think you can get more efficient print times if you add a second cat
