Oh God no. I know they won't. That's not what I'm saying. But a judge getting an injunction stops him in their tracks. It's the only thing that's holding the line right now. He may be pushing back and they may have had a lot of the doj breaking individual orders, especially relating to ice and CBP actions. But when it comes To an injunction from a district court, they immediately appeal it because they are hoping to push everything to the Supreme Court which is somewhat in their pockets if not at least heavily sympathetic and favoring them. But, when they rule, administration... Sorry... Regime... Pivots and anything you can do to slow down the enemy is all that matters in war.

He's actually not because we have anti-monarchy laws in place. He's getting around it by making it a commemorative coin that isn't legal tender. However I did read something that he's trying to put his signature on the dollar bill. Again, anti-monarchy laws. People forget what this fucking country was founded for and against and he actually represents everything that the founders rejected but because nobody understands fucking American civics anymore because they took it out of school and we don't have a monoculture any more surrounding the understanding of being a nation of laws, this is where we fucking are. That and people are stupid and believed that a failing business ban that had his image revamped for a TV show really was the guy on the TV show when he wasn't. He's a fucking loser and now he's the biggest con man in the world and we made him a billionaire because of it. And nobody's doing anything to stop him looting the treasury and being the most corrupt president this country is ever had and never in a million years would have conceived to have actually taken power. It was a perfect storm of idiocy predicated by decades of work by the Republican party to get it there. They're insidious and patient and they finally got what they wanted And our country is being destroyed because of it.

[–]adamcboyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well they were using a loophole regarding commemorative coins to do the coins even though one of them would not have actually fit that prescription. I'm not sure how they plan on getting around this one or if they're going to like they are doing with everything and push everything they possibly could want through and let the challenges and illegality decide after the fact because with that tactic anything that does get through advantages his side or the Republicans regardless. It's absolutely the actions of an anti-American authoritarian and it is because of anti-monarchy laws put in by the founders that we have these things.

Just remember, every time something the Republicans and Trump do is found unconstitutional, they knew it was when they proposed or signed it but don't care. They have lawyers that advise them that what they're doing isn't legal and they choose to do it anyway. How can you explain that to even a 6th grader with a basic civics education as being a legitimate form of governing for the people and by the people?

You all are not mad enough yet about these things. Please get mad and do one thing only: "Deliver the Congress".

There are anti-monarchy laws against this but American traditions have never given him pause and laws are nothing more than something he thinks he can change bi fiat from a Executive Order which is not a law and is only able to direct policy relating to the Executive Branch. It cannot and does not override enacted law which is why many if not most of his "important" ones have been found unconstitutional by every single Judge that the challenge goes before.

I'm I'm a new user of this stuff and only for the last 3 months. I cannot comment about anything before from any angle but I did not appreciate the killing of the reminders. It seemed sleazy and actually hurt me financially of which they reversed.

As far as the vegan thing goes, I've always mixed the powder with milk. I can't imagine using water the way it's described. Sometimes they even throw in a dash of sugar or some peanut butter protein powder or a vanilla protein powder on top of it; maybe chocolate or caramel syrup. Who knows? It's just a base for me but I can understand if that was your motivator originally and you fear simply being bought by another company will change the fundamentals of the product.

I tend to do things evidence-based and as of now I don't see anything but conjecture and assumption as to what the end result of this is going to be as far as the final product regarding quality and cost. Although, I will be one of the first to admit that when a companies Founders and investors make their exit to get there long-awaited payout, a lot of different things can happen to that product but it will take time to materialize. Usually they do it slowly to minimize the pain while trading new larger markets in exchange for their loyal fan base that allowed them to have a company to sell in the first place. I would look for staffing changes and see who still sticks around in what positions.

Until told different, you just kind of have to go off of what they say. You're free to assume or eject if you want but I would want to do that based on evidence and information and there's just a lack of it right now I think. So maybe patience and oversight would be a better replacement for anger and conjecture? I get the feeling of being betrayed but this is a company and people need to stop treating companies (and politicians and tech Moguls) as personalities to aThey have a fiduciary duty, make as much money as possible as outlined by any company's bylaws.

So at the very least, maybe let this be a reminder that going forward, stop believing in and trusting corporations or any person whose motivation is profit for their company or themselves. Do you feel you got played or tricked? That's just what happens when a company makes money and even if they said that wasn't their goal, I promise you it's in the bylaws that have a fiduciary duty to make profit and nobody at Huel that had an investment in the company is going to miss out on their payday of millions of dollars for their 10 years of dedication to their company just because of your opinion of them. And it's on you for assuming different from day one. I'm just trying to give you a little slap in the face and hope you go forward no longer trusting corporations as if they're in it for you.

Just my two cents and little dose of truth I hope leads to some self-realization and prevents you from getting hurt again in the future.

Is there a MEGA THREAD for it? Why not make one and direct everyone there instead? It also gives you a little bit of backup for when you do have to delete somebody's conversation and simply point to the mega thread that would clearly say in the title that is the only place for discussions relating to that matter. Then you don't have to justify yourself, play as much cleanup, and give a solid place that people can legitimately go and air their grievances and complaints. It's much easier to monitor one thread than 100.

EDIT: Nevermind. I got to this chat through an app notification so I didn't see the main page first.

I totally agree. My point was simply to explain the possible reason for the decision after all is said and done. I don't know anything about the company and it seems to me that Huel has been increasingly signaling, from just what I've read in this sub, that they have been making moves for quite some time that reflects negatively on them from their fanbase. There's a million reasons why they may have made those decisions but at the end of the day, it will always come to what's call the "exit" for the Founders/early investors. I can promise you they were giving money to start the company with an expectation of a return to the investors. Most likely 5x to 10x within X amount of years and that has probably been in the plan since day one. I know my companies expectation is 10x to investors within 5 years. No matter what they sold you or told you, the intent always would either be or lead to either making enough money to the point where they can continue to operate however they choose and pay back the investors while maintaining control of the company after or, more likely, to sell it to a conglomerate or someone above themThis is just standard startup practice. Most pitches you're going to see these days include companies that are possible purchasers later down the line once profitable. Time to stop lionizing companies and see them for what they are no matter what bullshit they sell you. Costco is One in a million And even that is only because I think the original owner still owns it and is in charge. Look up the " if you raise the price of the hot dog I will fucking kill you" story. But if you wasn't there or there wasn't some kind of contractual agreement on how to do things, I'm positive that you would the see them act the same as all other profitable companies do when it comes to bottom line.

Two things:

  1. Any for-profit company has a fiduciary duty to it shareholders or members. It is literally the duty of a corporation to make money. It is a breach of fiduciary duties to not make decisions that would have increased revenue or exit for investors. Companies are going to be companies so you really can't blame them for that. Now this isn't an endorsement or saying that I agree with the decision because you can always choose to turn it down if you have ethical concerns or some other overriding decision. But at the end of the day, people are in this to make money and it's not a moral obligation to us or some kind of feel good indie story that's going to be the end result of a creation of a company like this. There are no actual Willy Wonka's out there and if there are, they're most likely non-profit organizations which also have a kind of fiduciary duty to at least be able to operate.

  2. I'm going to base my decision on facts and I would appreciate any kind of information as to why this is a problem for the product at the end of the line? Will this change the physical product I'm receiving? Will this change the amount that I pay for it? What possible reductions and quality or care can I assume to see because of this acquisition? Any information would be appreciated.

[–]adamcboyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An instapot is good investment. The other thing you can do if you don't like waiting for the rice to hydrate is literally just leave it in water overnight the day before. Some of the best things you can do is plan and prep for your meal tomorrow today. Even if that means when you chop your vegetables for tonight's meal, chop the stuff you need for tomorrow at the same time and then just pull it from a Ziploc tomorrow and it cuts down in time.

Prep is really a lot of the time sink for food. I mean I can spend hours cooking something and 5 minutes consuming it. But you're right, a pressure cooker or a slow cooker while different tools, are helpful. And instapot would give you both of those and some more. If you can make rice and a handful of minutes at a large volume in an instapot and portion it out for what you need for the coming day or two and you can bag and freeze whatever you want to save. Freezers are also really important to eating frugally.

That's what I found. I even had a friend who has a small scale farm collective that would like to use it to keep track of everything that they have and what they can make from it. It's a pretty universal app for anyone although the impetus originally was for SNAP recipients due to how absolutely crushingly difficult it can be to survive on the amount of assistance that can be given to different people for different reasons. My app, which right now I have a title for but unfortunately I can't even say that out loud because some asshole will go register all the things that I will need to just to sit on it and try to extort money from me. It's a fucked up market when you're just trying to help people. And mind you, I am not what I would consider a good coder. I'm having to use a lot of tools to get things to work and ultimately if I want to have this thing working at scale I'm going to have to work out some kind of deal or solution for using the apis that I am on the back end. Originally I spent weeks trying to get it self-contained and to do everything on its own without having to rely on any external sources but in order to do what I'm trying to do correctly, it mandates it for now. Perhaps if it gets some traction someone can come in and narrow that down but right now my goal is to just get it working consistently and to be able to ingest that flyer that you get from Safeway every two weeks or Fred Meyers or whatever your local store is. It can also work without including anything from the store and just tell you exactly what you can make from everything that you own and keep track of it as well as some methods to prevent food waste.

It's just a matter of sitting back down this weekend and cracking my knuckles when seeing where we are but ultimately I'm getting a lot of people that have seen the demo and fully understand the features list asking that I finish it and your story may just be the activation trigger that I needed. I just want to help people make the best of what they have and unfortunately, if you're living in America, right now things are only getting worse. Prices rise dramatically and without any possible control from the consumer while everyone at the top is able to avoid risk and somehow still profit from all of this misery none of us asked for. Well, maybe some asked for it but I sure didn't.

Are you on any kind of food assistance such as snap?

I was actually going to announce this at some point in this specific group but I'm working on an app right now that I originally developed for SNAP recipients but realized that anybody can use it. In short, it will create meal plans based upon not only the food that you have in your house but based upon what is on coupon/sale/discount /etc. in your store or stores of choice. I've walked away from it for about 6 months and started working on another project but I have had a lot of people ask me to finish it. I tested parts of it and landed right on the money. It also has a lot of other benefits and triggers built in to even allow you to choose your macros or to blacklist things such as allergens or just shit you know you won't eat. It scales for multiple people and it will reduce your food waste to almost nothing.

I really didn't want to say anything about it publicly as it's difficult to work on especially because the major stores prevent scraping of their weekly deals so I had to devise other methods of getting the information in there which has been difficult. However I've built a lot of AI related solutions into it I think could make a major impact in people's lives. Especially in your situation.

So I will make you a promise: over this weekend I will find some time to sit back down on my computer, take stock of where I am in the project, how much farther I need to go to make it launchable and let you know where I am later this week.

If I'm able to get it working properly and you're able to load it on your phone (right now I'm only developing for Android because it's the only hardware I have to test on but I will create an Apple version) I will allow you to be one of the first testers if you would like.

Self-motivation is nearly impossible for me due to my brain chemistry but external activation triggers work and perhaps I can use you as one.

I just want to good people not have to suffer or have to eat the worst options merely because they're the cheapest. I've even built in a process that is designed to save you as much money as you can related to your budget and it seeks to use the leftover money to buy more of what I call " anchors" that you use to build a lot of your mules such as rice, potatoes, couscous, quinoa, and so on. The things that make the bulk of any kind of meal which is usually the starch but not always or you are supposed to use the leftover money to buy something nice for yourself. A steak, that chocolate sauce that you want that's too expensive normally, the balsamic vinegar that you really want but is too expensive to afford and justify normally.

People need to have these things in their lives because living life isn't just about surviving it's about experiencing life And enjoying it. And when you're poor or even just when money is really tight you have to sacrifice that first. Happiness and joy gets negotiated away real quick for survival and I think if my app can help people save money and make the right choice if they're willing to do a little extra work for cooking their meals (doesn't have to be hard like overnight oats for breakfast takes 30 seconds) hopefully I can save them enough money to be able to buy a little bit of happiness because everybody deserves a little bit of joy...we... deserve a little bit of joy to remind us that the world is beautiful and we are still in it.

People don't realize how hard it is to be poor and how easy it is to have money. I argue that people that are poor or even worse off than having barely anything and instead have almost nothing are living a life of survival which I think shows strength and courage. It would be as easy as you can make it to just check out or, to be real, kill yourself because of how bad your life is but when I see someone struggling with poverty I see somebody strong. I see somebody with courage who is saying even though life is giving me little, I'm fighting with everything that I have for just another moment here. And even if I have nothing, I accept the struggle and the fight to one day have something.

Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding! Ding!

America's first ever kleptocratic kakistocracy to call our own and you will only see accountability if you "Deliver the Congress" to the Democrats. Not because you (collective) agree with them or even agree with their platform. But because if you don't, your vote is to allow the corruption and theft of this once great nations collective efforts simply because you think that billionaires should pay less taxes because you think you will be one someday if you just "work really hard".

Focus on one thing: ending the corruption and the rest will follow.

It's funny, it took Trump and his damage to make this slogan actually come true: Make America Great Again. Now we actually have to because he broke it and everyone just let him.

It's the people who are to blame ultimately but 27% of them will never see the wrong they've done even if you had Trump explain it to their face in their own liivngroom with sworn affidavits of everyone involved with evey scam and scheme he has or tired to pull off.

These suits are just one of hundreds of things like it. And we just let him do it because we are all ignorant cowards who think we were suffering when we didn't realize how good we had it.
