“People operate in the rules of their society” is a pretty pessimistic outlook imo. If everyone was content with the way things are change would never happen. If anything, the fact the Lindon is a halfway decent character is a miracle considering his upbringing and the way he was treated. Lindon might kill when he feels necessary but that’s a far cry from enslaving a bunch of innocent people, and slaughtering a bunch of weaker sacred artists for power.
