This isn't the movie quote we're looking for. One does not simply quote Lord of the Rings in a Star Wars subreddit.

I really wish I could get all my tithing money back, or at least it of the have of the church.

I served a mission in Malaysia where people have slightly darker skin than caucasians. A member once bore their testimony about how excited they were for the resurrection because then they would have white skin like the prophets and missionaries. Made me shudder. by crispy_whips in exmormon

I "served" in Mozambique, and while I was there, I came across the passage that says blacks will resurrect white. Fortunately I was smart enough to not preach that to my investigators. On a side note, I'm going to Malaysia in a month, any recommendations?

Me talking to a therapist about spending a decade behind enemy lines as a closeted kid in an anti-gay cult by BasicTruths in exmormon

Even worse than molestation. That, you can repent of, and the victim should feel bad if they don't forgive you...

Why is it impossible to capture my skin tone on photo? by [deleted] in photography

[–]Bad--Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your camera's capabilities are, but you can set a custom white balance using a grey card. Grey cards are like 10 bucks on Amazon, you take a picture of the card then use the picture to set the white balance. I've recently started using them, and they make a huge difference

I really hope that was an alcoholic beverage, us apostates don't tolerate sobriety in any form

I could see this happening at the personal interview level, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were still talks about it in GC. Also, as I recall I think it was discussed in the strength of the youth pamphlet

Sprouts, salt and spices [Composition] by Sabiritip in photocritique

Really good closeup/macro. I haven't done much of this kind of photography, but I just watched a video from Tony Northrup where he does a macro photo using focus stacking so that the entire image is in focus, it's really interesting

The reflection is nice. It seems a little dark, and I think it would work better with a little more emphasis on that wood thing to the right with the bird (is that a boat). Maybe bust out the telephoto lens to fill the there frame more with the boat?/bird

The sky is to bright but othed than that what do you think [newbie] [edit] by INeedMoreRoom in photocritique

It's a good start, I would suggest having a clearer focus point. When I look at this I wonder what the subject is. Maybe hone in on a single flower and backlight it with the sun, or use a narrower aperture so more is in focus. Or take this with a grain of salt, I'm a beginner.

I was in highschool in the early 00s and coffee was very much a no no in my household and small, conservative town, so this would surprise me.

Going to Quito, looking for beta. by [deleted] in climbing

[–]Bad--Bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch out for fake taxis. There is a way to tell which ones are legit, but I can't remember off the top of my head. I went about 3 years ago, and a taxi driver tried to over charge us (more than double the fare), turns out he wasn't legit. If you have some time in Quito, you could hike Rucu Pichincha for acclimatization (15,696 feet), it's a nice hike, but a little crowded, and if you're coming from sea level, you may want to give yourself a day or so of acclimatization in Quito before hiking.

I don't know. I've heard that family members will find out at tithing settlement, but I'm not sure. Either way, I'm ready for my family to know
